Ocean texture to match Ocean panorama
Re: Ocean texture to match Ocean panorama
I managed to extract the stock panoramas with a roundabout way a few years back when I wanted to turn one of them - here is a download link to them all: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/azkix89r ... fofrg&dl=0

Thank you Adelade.
I will try and match the colours with that.

Re: Ocean texture to match Ocean panorama
Gentlemen,
I have tried to match my ocean texture to the panorama and vice versa, and I cannot get the match.
I will leave the texture as it looks on the screen shot.
Thanks to Stephen, Colin and Adelade for your time and effort.

Re: Ocean texture to match Ocean panorama
Unfortunately due to my memory problems I can't remember exactly what I used to do to match pano and texture colours but I know it was a pain! I'll write what I think I did anyway:
first take a screenshot of where they join. APCD and Links 2003 display colours slightly differently so I think it's important where you take the screenshot from, and it makes sense that it is the game, not APCD. I then created a rectangular mask on the texture of the screenshot ending exactly where the two meet. I would then tweak the masked area on my paint program writing the exact changes in numbers down each time eg. brightness up 1.7, saturation decreased by 3 etc until the masked area exactly matched the pano area. I would then load the texture into the paint program and make the same exact changes to the texture. In theory they then have to match perfectly in the game. They may not perfectly match in APCD because of the different lighting, but that does not matter. Hope this helps.

Lez,
Thanks very much for your reply.
I have spent many hours trying to tweak the colours and I have decided to stay with the image I first posted.
Thanks again Lez for your time, it is always appreciated.

Re: Ocean texture to match Ocean panorama
I no longer have APCD or Links 2003 installed, but testing your screenshot in my old Photoshop I think I could get a reasonable match though it may not be perfect because I wouldn't be able to test it in-game. If you want to send me the texture I'll give it a go.

Re: Ocean texture to match Ocean panorama
If the texture and pano you uploaded are the ones used in the image on page 1 then this tweaked tga should be pretty close to what you want. It's odd that the texture is lighter than the pano, when in the screenshot it is the other way around, but I think that is due to the in-game lighting hitting the horizontal image of the texture and the vertical image of the pano and this is what makes colur matching textures and panos difficult.
Anyway, try this one and see if it is a closer match and post another Links screenshot if it is but needs more tweaking. If it's still way off then I probably can't help unless I re-install everything.

Re: Ocean texture to match Ocean panorama
Lez,
Thanks for the texture.
When I add it to the course, the ocean texture is too bright.
I know how difficult it it is to get a match after spending a couple of hours tweaking the ocean texture.
I do not want to waste any more of your time and, as I am happy with the texture I am using, that is the one I will go with.
Once again thank you for your time and effort.

Re: Ocean texture to match Ocean panorama
I'm pretty sure I used an ocean only pano when I did 'The Bluffs At Ocean Point HD' update. I can't remember whether I used the stock pano or made a custom one, but either way you should be able to use the texture and pano from that course, if it is suitable.
