Spring Hill Golf Club - Beta

Post by Ian Wells »

Spring Hill Golf Club was designed by Tom Fazio and built in 1999 it is located in Wayzata, to the west of Minneapolis, MN, United States of America. The course is a private course with a par of 72 with the black tees stretching 7042 yards.

I have asked Andy to upload the Beta version of this course.

I have also played a quick round.

It looks good, I like the mixture of holes and particularly the matted rough.

It played nicely. No problems stood out for me.

just finished playing a round of golf. Very nice course. One question though are the marsh areas thoughout the course going to be marked as a hazard area?

I have now played the course on a much older machine (2012 model) It plays well there, so it looks to be a pretty efficent course too.

Andy,
Thank you for the upload.

Gentlemen,
Thank you for your comments about playability.

Bear2016,
I was unsure if I should mark the marsh areas a a hazard. In the real world there is no way any golfer could play out of that fescue, therefore i will make the marsh areas a hazard in the final release. Thank you for the reminder.

I have received a comment regarding the brightness and saturation of the rough, fairway, first cut and fringe. After seeing the colours each day while building the course, I like the colours.
Are there others who find that the course will be more enjoyable with more subdued colours?

Thanks for all comments.

I certain didn't find the "green" really too much on my systems, I do have the screens adjusted however, personally I would prefer the greens to be a little less intense to suit personal taste, but my overriding feeling is how intense is the green on the real course and that should be the benchmark judged against.

I would say the rough is a little overbearing compared to the other colours of the course in general, especially compared to the texture for the greens (as in the putting surfaces), so I think the course would probably look better with the rough at lower saturation yes. I think the other textures mentioned are fine as they are (but I'd probably be equally fine with them slightly more subdued too).
Finished Courses - Main: Amedal (fictional), Nine Bridges (real)
Other: Austin, Sheshan, Kauri Cliffs, Le Golf Nat. Updates: Whirlpool, Royal Lytham, Royal St George's, Chicago, Chambers Bay, Munchen Nord E
Working on: 2 fictional courses + a couple things...
