Personally dont like w3 although it has some nice "ideas", and possibly the best colouring imo.
w23 I like but maybe too high scaling?
w30_1 I think would look best of the 3 if it had its colouring changed. Voted that.

Thats based on these pictures though, if it was my course/decision I would prefer to compare pictures from within Links rather than in APCD, I've perceived a subtle yet noticeable difference between them.

I copied each one into Paint Shop Pro and matched the river picture against them. w23 is the closest to the current color, but it looks a bit brownish, like there might be some runoff from recent heavy rains. W3 is a more perfect color, like everyone would think rivers "ought" to be but rarely are - but it is the nicest looking color. W30 is the compromise color - on average probably close to how the river usually looks. I'd be real torn between w3 and w30! Your call.

W3 by far is the closest to the real river, very nice texture. A little tweek in the color maybe but other than that it got my vote. Although they are all very nice textures :cheers1:

Guys, the 'real' colour of a river depends much more on the lighting and sky/background reflections (and camera settings) for that specific time and place a given photograph was taken, than anything else. Take the same photograph at the same place another time and the colour will be different.

I think W23 looks the best, but that it should be scaled down to a smaller planar size. IMHO, at the scale it's presently set at, it makes it look like violent flood waters, rather than a normal flowing stream.

Well...
it's seems the 23 won, but a big problem...
I realy like it, but after a lot of try this morning to scale down this texture, it looks horrible too much tiling, I decided to supress it :surrender:
The 30 one looks like an ocean or a sea...
I decided to keep the first one because it gives the reflecting impression...
I completely change the mapping... I will try to change the color a little bit...
Thank you again for your help

I was thinking that I don't recall the Humber to be that "Active". While the blue is prettier and also "plays to the sun", IMHO the brown plays to a more varied weather condition without the need to do a reflection.
Just my Canadian Nickel-we can't do two cents anymore!

Hi LeWAW...

I notice that your IRL creek (in these parts it's too small to be called a river  ) has a partially smooth surface which is broken up into rippling rapids in different areas. I created some rippling creek water for my Kansas City course. I wonder if parts of mine could be blended in with smoother water of similar color to perhaps produce the same patches of rapids as in your IRL picture. :dunno:

What do you think? Want to give it a try? I'll send you the texture to play around with if you want...
