SUGGESTIONS !

REMEMBER - ALWAYS COPY YOUR SOUNDSCRIPTS TO GO IN 2 SEPARATE PLACES -
1. The Main Game File ( where the Linkslauncher is )
2. The PolyAni File ( This is for your Player Sound Script )


To get more out of your sound scripts do the following :
1. Use a good defragmentation software weekly : My Suggestions .....
Auslogics Free Defrag - - Iobit Smart Defrag - Glarysoft Disc Speedup .

2. Run a Error checking software weekly : My Suggestions .....
Ccleaner Portable - Auslogics Registry Cleaner.

Please Note : This is My Recommendation for the Best Configuration for Soundscripts ( Revised 1/17/20 )

2B . .Make many Bot Players ( http://www.linksanimasters.com/downloads1.php )

Then : Change all your Bot Players Soundscripts to any other soundscript other than your Main Sound Scripts in Either Category .
Do this in the Player soundscript area.

3.Example :
Use the ( Tournament ) as ( Main Sound Script for Normal Play ) .
Use the ( UKtribute4.ssf ) in the ( Main Sound Script for Tournament Play )
Doing, as it spices up the game , and adds tremendous variable sound variations to the game .( It wont be dull )

4.I have noticed : If you Change the ( Main Soundscript for Normal Play ) on a regular basis.
And Leave the ( Main Sound Script for Tournament Play ) as ( None ).
You will get many variations from your Player Soundscripts , joined with the Main Soundscript for Normal Play .


If you change these it will keep the gameflow sounding variable and diversified during each game .

If you do these 4 things - before launching Links Golf Games - Your sound scripts will not be sounding the same each game .

Yes they are, Alphington. Unfortunately they were left behind many PC's ago. That was back in the time where you had to put files on a CD and snail-mail it around in order to circulate them since the internet and available modems were so slow. Remember when you had to split big files apart so the pieces would fit on a 1.44 mb floppy? That may seem like a long time ago to some of you fellows, but for this guy who's having his 75th birthday tomorrow it feels pretty recent!

Thanks for your reply and being in the mid-60s myself (that's age, not golf score!) I do remember the floppy days which at the time seemed so new and amazing. As someone who played Links briefly a long time ago and have recently come back to it with enthusiasm, I'm really impressed with the thriving community. The accumulated knowledge of the group is a great resource made in no small part by long standing players/creators such as yourself.

Good news - I found Pete's missing files!
I looked through an archive section at FilePlanet and found this:

On that page is also a link to DL 'PMsoun99'
(Also link to DL 'PMfulton' but that is already in the archive)

I have downloaded them and have them working! 'Solitude' is very nice and peaceful as it's name suggested.

Interestingly, if you use the fileplanet search function it does not find the files but in the archive section under 'Golf' they are still there. Unfortunately I could find no other of the listed-as-missing files in the archive but happy to have found these two!

Unfortunately the site doesn't give you the PMsoun99 file right away - it gives you a download of a download manager, and that kicks off a warning from MalwareBytes (my Malware protection) which quarantines the download manager. I suspect something is fishy about it because I was then asked to re-enter my name and password for LinksCorner when I was already logged on. That's not normal behavior! I would red-flag this site! Maybe OK, but too suspicious!

Sorry to hear that - my antivirus (eset nod32) did not intervene and the downloaded file is working in Links. You are right to be wary though and perhaps I was too unaware... I used Explorer to download and have had no issues of having to log back into LinksCorner.

I will get a copy of malwarebytes and do a scan on the hard drive just in case. I'm sure this didn't happen as much when we just had the floppies!

Has anyone else any knowledge of whether the fileplanet site is OK or not?

Update - apologies but after Pete's reply about my DL link I checked again and it is wanting to DL an exe file so PLEASE DO NOT DL.

I do not know what has happened as I managed to DL Pete's files earlier without incident (they are the actual files not exe files). I have those files though and I will try to work out a way to make them available. This is a bit of a nightmare, please don't look on me unkindly I was acting in good faith.

I will edit my previous message to delete the DL address.

Does anyone know if fileplanet has a reputation for being dodgy? I have not used it before.
