Hi.

Yes, it is possible to play Links by Direction Connection and I use it most weeks to play against my friend. Unfortunately, you need to be Au Fait with your router set up, to use a fixed IP for your PC and then set port forwarding for Links.

The other option is to install Game Ranger, but I have little experience with that. :dunno:

Direct connection using the LAN option can be used across the router ports, firewalls and to remote users by configuring something like Tailscale (which is free for personal use up to 100 devices I think) or in my case I had NordVPN which comes with an eauivalent called Meshnet: These services effectively create a LAN even when devices are remote and conected to other networks. This removes the need for Router reconfiguring, opening ports, static IPs and the like. All in all this is a much easier way. Once connected to the meshnet/tailscal the computer IP should show up as something like 100.xxx.xxx.xxx rather than 192.168.x.x and use that 100.xxx.xxx.xxx IP address to make the direct connection.
