No problem...you did a great real estate job on the south course...just that missing bunker.

I always like to hit one out of bounds in practise to see those "extra features (in case somebody really shanks one ...you always deliver!

On to the north course...

NORTH COURSE

Post by Jimbo »

MY FELLOW LINKSTERS-ALTHOUGH THEY'RE O/B MR. BROOKS HAS CONSTRUCTED SOME BEAUTIFUL HOUSES BEHIND THE TREES. DO YOURSELVES A FAVOUR AND SHANK A FEW SHOTS DURING A PRACTICE ROUND!

I’m going to use numbers 1-9 instead of 10-18 because the North Course is the front 9 for the North/East course.

On the 2nd hole there’s some elevation change along the fairway but the tee and green are level.
On the 3rd hole just beyond the green you can get a partial view of the houses.
On the 4th hole I’m showing an elevation of 16 feet. There’s also a small clearing about halfway to the hole where you can get a fairly good view of the houses. It would be a shame to waste that work! 
5th hole-the houses are fantastic! Hopefully people will occasionally shank a shot without going o/b!
6th hole-Google Earth shows that the green is 20 feet below the tee, although there’s a dip in the fairway which makes the approach approx. 5 feet uphill.
8th hole-Google Earth seems to show a 35 foot drop from the back tees…the other sites are closer to what you have.
9th hole-Chop down the trees to the right of the tee. You should be able to see the water that guards the 8th green.

That's all the nit-picking here...not very much!

Just wondering-were you able to take the holes from the Championship Course and do a transfer of the "Back Nine" to the "Front Nine" of this course? I haven't downloaded it yet...but I knew you were almost done! :naughty:

The newest addition with east course has it playing as the back nine with the north course playing as the front nine. Looking at another real 27 hole golf complex in Links, Gut Kaden has A/C, B/A and C/B versions, but of 3 courses the permutations of playing back nines before play front nines as tournament players might possibly do on first 2 days of a 4 day event is not applicable. The versions not listed would be C/A, A/B, and B/C. Applying some of this logic to Sahalee would be that John Brooks possibly pair up the south and east courses at least to emulate how Gut Kaden can be played currently---that is without going crazy playing the nines backwards as well.

The courses at Sahalee are played:-
(1) South / North (Championship)

(2) North / East

(3) East / South

So that means that you can't just copy one set of nine holes from one course to another because the front nine on one course is always the same as the back nine on another, so the hole numbers and stroke indices change.

Cheers

Something interesting-I'm looking at the Sahalee website to check their yardages for the east course. Somebody didn't bother to check their math.
I've just successfully nit-picked the club! :clapping:

This makes sense as to how to schedule daily play and spread out players over the 3 nine holes.

EAST COURSE

Post by Jimbo »

This course is tougher to nit-pick because it only appears on Golf Advisor. Having said that it’s full of booby traps that can take a perfectly good drive and end up not rewarding it. John has gone out of his way to include real estate-this may be his masterpiece…for now.

Another nice house on the 2nd hole.

Speaking of nice houses you should be able to see a couple across the water beside the 3rd hole.

On the 5th hole there is a lone tree on the right side of the fairway at 300 yards. The website calls it the “Salahee Tree”. I think that it’s to make it more difficult to find a way to get on the green in two.

On the 6th hole you should be able to see houses to the right of the tee. As far as the left side goes…   The only improvement on the left side would be to make it more of a “road” between the houses…otherwise you’ve made my day!

On the 7th hole (the dogleg right) Google Earth says that it’s 25 feet uphill.

That’s all that I have to suggest-this course is almost perfect-at least from a non-technical standpoint!

In regard to Jimbo's post about Sahalee having bobby traps all over the place I would agree with that. What looks like a good spot to place drive sometimes winds up to where being blocked by a blurry wall of trees to hit through for next shot. Just played Forest Akers going through courses have downloaded alphabetically and found shots offline into trees I saw where individual trees were placed as well as openings between them which like in reality---I might choose to use a longer club and employ a punch shot to get where need to go or at best in a position leaving me an open shot afterwards. I would ask if the blurry wall issue of trees might be resolved for Sahalee since trees are so integral a factor in how the courses there look and play.
