A Whitemud Creek Re-Do?
A Whitemud Creek Re-Do?
I have often thought that it would be cool is someone in the Links community would ever be interested in updating the Whitemud Creek Golf Club for Links, which was originally created by Clement Lo back in 2001. I just finished playing a few practice holes on this course and forgot how much fun it is to play. I believe that when Clement first introduced the course, he mentioned that it was only a nine-hole course, consisting of just the front nine holes and the back nine were created by him. I like the current trend of some Links course designers who are giving some of the older courses a nice face lift, and Whitemud Creek would be a great candidate for one even though it still looks good for its age.
Re: A Whitemud Creek Re-Do?
Haven't considered it/played it but will take a look. I'm strongly considering a "renno" as my next effort after finishing the Country Club of Harrisburg. Autumn Valley or Liberty South is probably on the top of the list right now, but a 9 hole would be fun to mix in 9 new holes :-)
Re: A Whitemud Creek Re-Do?
Actually, is there a link to it? I tried the download link and I got the "Space" course instead. Any ideas?
Re: A Whitemud Creek Re-Do?
Yes - that link provides the "Space" course, which I remember from way back in the day. Notice the file download is only 14mb whereas the course is noted as 38mb.
Re: A Whitemud Creek Re-Do?
The download link on Whitemud Creek's page is pointing to crz #499 (Space). Try this - http://linkscoursefiles.co.uk/C2013f/498.zip for Whitemud Creek.
Re: A Whitemud Creek Re-Do?
I tried to find the club website-I found a link to an RV camp in Edmonton and an indication that the club was permanently closed. Then I tried this link and found some pictures-it might not be closed after all (once golf courses reopen.

The toughest shot in golf is your next one.
Re: A Whitemud Creek Re-Do?
I was just trying to find a link to the existing real course. The link to the actual golf course-I also found some pictures...I think they're not current

...it looks as if the course no longer exists.
But if you're looking at Alberta, might I suggest:
https://www.fairmont.com/jasper/golf/th ... odge-golf/
This is Banff's sister course, 6,600 yards again designed by Stanley Thompson or...
https://www.kananaskisgolf.com/
Robert Trent Jones has designed two 7,000 yard courses (Mount Kidd and Mount Lorette) with mountain backgrounds that put Banff to shame-and that's VERY hard to do!
Anyway, that's my 2 cents (Canadian) again...
