How often do you have the same "issue"?
BUNKERS
BUNKERS
Just watching Rory at Riviera...made an amazing bunker shot 13 the 13th then saw hit his tee shot into a fairway bunker, followed by his next shot into a greenside bunker.

Re: BUNKERS
Certainly in Links if I wind up in a bunker then I seem to go from bunker to bunker. Generally not the case in the real thing.

Re: BUNKERS
My problem is hitting into a greenside bunker and then getting the ball out of the bunker and onto the green!

Jim,
If you are within 20 -21 yards from the hole use the lob wedge explode setting. Just gage the swing.

After you download into your excel program, check
the tabs bottom left for chipping charts)
ver 1.06 charts are good for ver 1.07
also take a look at the sand.jpg file for green side bunker shots
Good luck!

Re: BUNKERS
Many thanks for the encouragement and charts, much like real life, just need to get more practice in especially since I hadn't played Links much the last few years, the feel and touch is starting to come back but bunkers have been a challenge for me.

Re: BUNKERS
What works for me is to play a "dig", where you take a partial contact (depending how far yow are from the pin) then hit the ball somewhere between 7 and 11 o'clock, depending how far you are from the pin. You'll need to practise in order to get your distances but the ball splashes out like the pros and will roll towards the hole. I've managed to "hole out" many times and it looks like it does on TV. I can get at least 20 yards out of it if I go from 12 o'clock to 7 o'clock-but no further. Beware-if your ball is "plugged" it will fly out, so you have to VERY gentle and just "nudge it out or it will "fly".JimEvers37 wrote: ↑February 24th, 2026, 4:20 pm My problem is hitting into a greenside bunker and then getting the ball out of the bunker and onto the green!

With some practise you'll be able to judge the distance and trajectory (if you land in a deep one.
