FWIW I do not think any wrapper will make a different.
The wrappers are about DirectX so more related to playing the game rather than designing courses.
I have found with this wrapper however that some courses that crash with dgVoodoo do not crash with DDrawCompat. That may help some designers at times with less chance of crashes and hangs.
