supendthread loop failed

Post by gchewitt »

This is a bit of topic because it's not about Links but I know there are very tech-savvy people here from past experience. This has been coming up in another game I play and it's causing the game to crash. No one at the game's support staff seems to have a clue how to solve it. Any ideas here? If it can't be resloved soon I may come back to Links. I had many happy hours of gameplay in the past.

I'm not too tech savvy lately; those days are mostly behind me, I think! However ....

I have no idea what game you're running into that error with (a Steam game?), but posing that error message to Duck.ai - the default AI when you search in Firefox, I think - reveals the following (in case you haven't already searched in ChatGPT or whatever AI bot you prefer!):
Overview of "SuspendThread Loop Failed" Error

The "SuspendThread loop failed" error typically occurs in software applications when a thread suspension operation does not complete as expected. This can lead to application freezes or crashes.
Common Causes
1. Resource Conflicts

The suspended thread may hold resources needed by other threads, causing a deadlock situation.

2. Memory Issues

Insufficient memory can lead to threads being unable to suspend properly, especially under high load conditions.

3. Software Bugs

Bugs in the application code or the operating system can trigger this error, particularly in complex multi-threaded environments.

Examples of Occurrences
Application Description
Warcraft Rumble Freezes when claiming XP, followed by a "Fatal error in GC: SuspendThread loop failed" message.
Game Applications Users report crashes after clearing download caches, leading to the same error.

Troubleshooting Steps

Check for Resource Usage
Monitor system resources to ensure there is enough memory and CPU available.

Update Software
Ensure that the application and operating system are up to date to fix known bugs.

Reinstall Application
If the error persists, try reinstalling the application to reset its state.

Contact Support
If issues continue, consider reaching out to the application's support team with detailed logs for further assistance.

It doesn't seem to be of much help with resolving the issue, but perhaps the check resource usage might allow you and/or the game's support staff to give advice.
