I have been trying to play this old course from the middle tees but it crashes after the 14th hole. I read Glenn's text, he says "). If you don't change the ladies tee's to something else links will crash." I don't know what he means. Can anyone explain this to me.

Crash playing TPC Deere Run Classic
Re: Crash playing TPC Deere Run Classic
I tried this course and had it crash on the 12th resumed it and it then crashed on the 14th.
I then tried the members version and again it crashed on the back nine.

Re: Crash playing TPC Deere Run Classic
On a whim I decided to try the classic version of the course on a very different system.
Links has exactly the same patches, the round conditions were the same.
The System it crashed on is Running Windows 11, with Intel integrated GPU and the wrapper version 2.7.
The system that worked is running Linux, with Nvidia 940mx and Wine, no wrapper.
So it appears the problem could be system related.

Re: Crash playing TPC Deere Run Classic
I was going to make a comment earlier. I think it's trying to run a 20 year plus program on modern machines. Not a good combo. That's why it seems to work on linux....................

If there is one thing ................ummmmmmmm.......I can't remember.
Re: Crash playing TPC Deere Run Classic
I suspect it is something in dgVoodoo that is not doing quite what it should be.
The older 2008 version of the course plays fine.
I dropped dgVoodoo V2.5 onto my system but alas got the same result, version 2.79 is also the same.

Re: Crash playing TPC Deere Run Classic
Working well on Linux I think comes down more to the Wine developers. Although working on Linux can still be a bit touch and go at times, I've had my share of problem with these systems, as much, if not more, than Windows, my Linux notebook can be rather contrary, to put it nicely and some courses do not work well on some Linux configs.
This is the first course that has given me grief on Windows 11 with the wrapper, in the main it has been pretty good.
Given the success with Linux, I have been trying to get the DirectX layer from Wine working with Links on Windows, each version gets compiled for Windows, again for the purpose of facilitating using older games on the current Windows releases, but so far no joy, my interest is because translucent golfer shadows works on Linux with any video hardware. I use retired Windows machine with Linux to give them a new lease of life, so while they are older machines they still perform well with the O/S transplant.

Re: Crash playing TPC Deere Run Classic
Thanks guys for your comments. In the last few years I have been going back thro my list of courses I have downloaded, played once or twice and forgot about and playing them again. This course is the first one that has caused links to crash so I suspect it is course specific rather than system specific. I am running win 11 on a two yr old HP 2 in 1 computer with lots of power and storage and the courses designed since 2k all run problem free. I had to download and install dgVoodoo to get links to work initially but that is the extent of my computer expertise. I'll check back occasionally to see if anyone comes up with a solution. Thanks again
