nVidia fix issue
nVidia fix issue
I had previously executed the nVidia fix from my Downloads folder instead of putting it in the Links folder before executing it, and didn't pay any attention to where it was going to put the "fix". Do you know what files are installed when you execute the fix? I would like to search for and delete those files if they appear anywhere other than the folder I created for Links (Program Files x86\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Links 2003) as I am having trouble getting Links to work in Win 11. This will help me eliminate one possible issue with the installation. Thanks.
Re: nVidia fix issue
It should not matter where you execute it from.
All it does is replace the file LinksMMIII.exe the file should be dated Mar 31 2010 I believe.
The 1.07 file is dated 2008

Re: nVidia fix issue
Thank you sir. I do have a March 30, 2010 MMIII file. I'm thinking the reason for the black screen I have to kill using Task Manager might be because Links is so old, Win 11's Defender might be sandboxing it. But others I know have installed Links in Win 11 without problem. Running out of ideas.

Re: nVidia fix issue
I have Links 2003 running on 2 Windows 11 systems without problem.
After installing Links I from the Original CD's I installed:
1. Version 1.07 update
2. Nvidia Fix
3. The wrapper
Before starting Links I set it to run in XP compatibility mode.
When then starting Links for the first time, in order to set up the registry entries it Asked to Install Direct Play this is needed for audio.
Once that was done I was able to edit the registry to set the correct video mode.
I used the wrapper as the machines have the embedded Intel Video.
The only problem I have seen is on some machines I have had to set a lower resolution than what they in theory should support.

Re: nVidia fix issue
Did you try putting the nvidia patch in the right place and double-clicking it?
No matter where you go, there you are.
Re: nVidia fix issue
Yes, and even changed the folder where it was to be installed to the one where I installed Links (it was automatically going somewhere else)
