Just re-visited the beautiful ... and now legendary Curt Simm's Wentworth West ... this HAS to be the most photo-realistic course and also the most Atmospheric course on Links2k3... I mean the texturing is another level...maybe ONLY surpassed by Mike Jones and Robert Miller... ALTHOUGH neither have managed to get that beautiful palette like Curt... amazing work..
Pls add any other courses you deem photo- realistic or what you deem a close competitor to this course

Re: Photo - Realistic Courses
I've been playing links a bit recently and have found the courses by John Aherne to be very good.

Re: Photo - Realistic Courses
If my memory serves me correctly, I believe he became a professional designer for someone. Real courses. I'm sure someone will know more and bump this.

If you mean John Aherne, he started his own company and was (is still?) doing 3D rendering work for real golf course architects.
Some good examples here on his website - not sure if the rendering engine is PerfectGolf or something else.

I believe Mike Jones was associated with Perfect Golf, https://uk.linkedin.com/in/mike-jones-9375a311jwgriffingca wrote: ↑March 29th, 2025, 2:06 pmIf you mean John Aherne, he started his own company and was (is still?) doing 3D rendering work for real golf course architects.

Also in Linked In site mentions Perfect Parallel and Trackman.
And with this mention of Perfect Golf brings up possible tie-in with Jack Nicklaus's Perfect Golf or Course Forge used in one of his golf game simulators.

And now, the Nicklaus Companies is upping the ante to an all-new level, with the launch of Jack Nicklaus Perfect Golf, the most realistic golf computer game the market has ever seen. Golfers, non-golfers and gaming enthusiasts alike will have hours of enjoyment designing and playing golf courses just like the Golden Bear himself has done for the last 50 years.
Also ran across older post describing Wayne Hewitt designing real courses to interest people into going to play them. Post that copied from now is inactive meaning Wayne Hewitt might have retired. Re: Wonderful Golf Courses

Partial quote copied here.
This is Wayne Hewitt's information, http://www.hewisgolfdesign.com/
"We are privileged to be partnering some of the world’s foremost course developers and architects in the creation of stunning new courses.
We have the ability to create near photo realistic visualisations for both golf course design firms and landscape designers. From single green or tee sites, to complete courses or backyard gardens, almost anything is possible.
Full golf courses are even playable on PC’s with Microsoft’s Links 2003. Giving you the ability to view any part of a course from any angle that you please.
Please have a good look around the site to give you the best idea of what can be done."

Mike Jones before hooked on with companies mentioned in LinkedIn had tie in to doing real courses such as mentioned Wayne Hewitt's designing real courses in order to get players to play them---this link shows Mike Jones doing virtually the same work. https://www.3dgolfdesign.com/ Photorealistic visualization for golf clubs, golf architects and developers 3DGolfDesign are world leaders in the 3D creation and visualization of golf courses and golf estates for marketing, funding and design purposes.
