I used the Golfer Utility app to create a number of players on my previous laptop, changing Anis by adding names and logos to shirts. That laptop - which I think was using Windows 7 - stopped working, terminally, but I'd backed-up the changed Anis so I was able to copy them onto Links 2003 when I installed it on my replacement laptop, which uses Windows 10. The shirts now appear reversed, with the names at the front, backwards. I've used the Golfer Utility in an attempt to get them the right way around, but the changes that I make haven't had any effect on the golfers' appearance - whatever I do to an Ani's shirt it's always the old, unaltered version that appears on the golfer. Anybody know what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks!

Re: Changing Anis
Toad,
The golfer utility won't help with this issue unless the ani model and the created shirts are aligned with each other. It's just going to transfer textures that you choose to the golfer. It can't change their orientation. This issue is why I converted all the anis to use the S01 model. All the shirts are correctly oriented with that model.
A couple of things to consider here. First, if you flip the golfer to left handed it will mirror the logos on the shirts and they will be backwards. Second, if you are trying to put shirts from any of the older model of anis (M01, M02, D01) that have logos on an ani that is S01 those shirts will always have backwards logos as you described. With some crafty graphics design work you can flip the logos to the correct orientation, but that might be another lesson for another day.
What model of ani are you trying to use (shorts, no hat, hat, etc.)? I assume you are using the old/original models of those anis? I've solved this entire problem if you want to ditch the old anis and use any of my models. All of them use S01, but I have version with hats, no hats, visors, flat hats, bucket hats, joggers and so on. That means that all apparel will look correctly on ani of my anis.
Just answer those couple questions and I'll help you get squared away.

Hello JC -
Thanks for your quick response!
I've been using Anis from the Links AniMasters site - Laura, Eric and the like. About a decade ago I did dozens of new players based on those figures, on my old laptop with an earlier version of Windows: I was able to use the Golfer Utility to download a shirt, which had one of the old-style names such as L_M03_SHIRT01_11.tga, add a name and a logo in Paint Shop Pro, and upload it to the golfer. As I say, however, when I copied these players to my new laptop, with Windows 10, they seemed to be wearing the shirts back-to-front, with the names and logos (reversed) on the front rather than on the back, and 'V' shapes of the neck at the rear. I've tried doing my old 'download-change-upload' trick with Anis from both C:/Program Files (x86)/Microsoft Games/Links2003/PolyAni and C:/Program Data/Links 2003/Players, but while the changes are shown in the list of shirts, etc, they don't appear on the player. I've even tried saving the changed L_M03_SHIRT01_11.tga alongside the old one as L_M03_SHIRT01_12.tga, which should be the next shirt in line, but the old unchanged 12 keeps appearing. It's as though Windows 10 is getting the .tga information from a file other than the ones I've been changing...
If you have new versions of the old LM (etc) files, that might well do the trick.

Re: Changing Anis
Toad,
I could be wrong or not understanding you, but the version of Windows shouldn't have any bearing on the orientation of a shirt on your golfer. If that is the case then there is some sort of graphics driver or other graphics glitch going on, but I just don't see that as a the culprit. If you are using M03 golfers from the animasters then shirts should be oriented where the left of the shirt is the back (furthest from the sleeves) and the right of the shirt is the front (closest to the sleeves). Unless the golfer is left handed the graphics need to be mirrored to show up correctly in the game.
In the images I've attached below I explain the orientation difference between the models, which it sounds like you totally understand, but if it's not showing up in the game correctly and the shirt looks right when you view it then something isnt working right with the file transfer in the golfer utility.
My bet is that you are updating an ani outside of the polyani folder and then not transferring that ani to the polyani folder. Whatever file you update needs to be in the polyani folder to show up in the game. I would pay close attention to the file location of where you open the ani from. The easiest solution is to open the ani from the polyani folder, apply the changes and save, and then the ani should show up in the game with the changes.
If none of this helps then the next step might be to send me some pics. Worst case we can hop on a chat client and possibly do a screen share so I can see what's happening.
By the way, I have every ani that has ever been created from the original animasters site so I can certainly get you anything you need, but lets see if we can get this working for you first.

Re: Changing Anis
Hello JC -
I've tried opening, altering and saving the shirts from players in both the C:/Program Files(x86)/Microsoft Games/Links 2003/Poly Anis and C:/Program Data/Links 2003/Players folders, but neither changes the appearance of the golfer when I go to the game. On investigation I found another set of the Anis in C:/Users/Owner/Documents/Links Data/Poly Ani and tried opening-altering-saving one of the Anis there, but again it had no effect on the player in the game. I'm beginning to think that, as you say, there must be a problem with the Golfer Utility file transfer....
I've put a couple of examples below: one is the original, the other one that's been changed and saved under the nest shirt-number down, the idea being that if I went into Options and scrolled through the various shirts I'd see if both versions were shown - they weren't.

Toad,
You have Discord or Skype? We could go back and forth for days on possible causes and solutions in a forum setting, but I'm guessing if you can screen share with me I could resolve this in a few mins. Just let me know if you are interested.

Re: Changing Anis
I don't have either, I'm afraid, JC - I'm rather ancient and my laptops tend to have a minimum of apps and things on them. It was kind of you to offer, though; thanks! Your S01s sound like they might be a possible solution, but there again they might fall foul of my Golfer Utility if I try to change them.
It may be that my best bet is to borrow my sister's laptop, install Golfer Utility on that, change the Anis there, and transfer them back to my own laptop. It'd be fiddly but it might possibly work. I'd be glad to get golfing again - the sight of the players with their shirts back-to-front has been putting me off, of late.....

Toad,
I know you have 5 posts on the site, but I'm not going to assume you haven't been snooping around the site before posting. In case you aren't aware, I have a site that has multiple versions of the golfer utility that you can download. There's a crap ton more on that site Links related, but I have a Golfer Utility for every file type that makes up the ani archive.

Re: Changing Anis
That's excellent, JC - Thanks! I reckon it gives me the best chance of getting my players properly shirted. I'll go over and have an explore.
