Well gents (and ladies) (are there any ladies?) I have the Animasters 2.0 site finished with the exception of the golf clubs and those are coming. Here is what I ended up doing with the apparel. There are 5255 textures that I've created the last 2 years for hats, shirts, pants and shoes. For the life of me I couldn't figure out an easy way to dynamically link all those textures AND make them downloadable. I could link them through a CMS option that Wix has, but it wouldn't let the site visitor download the images. The only other option was for me to create over 5000 thumbnail images and then link them to the zip texture files. Making the 5000 thumbnail images wasn't too bad as I have a program that could do that for me as a batch job. What I was not willing to do for time (and sanity) purposes was manually link 5000 images to the zip files.

So, every hat, shirt and collar, pants and shoes that I've ever created for any of my PGA golfers are included in the zip file for each golfer. When you download a golfer zip you get the animation file, the apparel textures, the script.txt file, the .SKL maya body type file, an image to use to represent the golfer in Links and multiple PIN files that you can setup as an AI player and play against. Because I included the apparel with the golfers I didn't feel like it was necessary to include them again on the apparel page so I just included collections of apparel in a single zip file for hats, pants, shirts and shoes respectively. Those are pretty large collections so the files are large, but with today's internet speeds they shouldn't be too bad to download.

It took me a damn year to get this site completed, which really pisses me off at myself, but it's finally ready to officially open for "business" (everything is free of course).

Andy,

Any chance you can link this new site on the home page with the other linked sites?

BSJC

All of what you do is magical! Keep up the good work.

Now to a serious question. Can an Ani hit the ball without holding the club?
Theegala is a perfect example of this. Can the club and hand separation be fixed?

PS: Maybe too many of these is the problem :cheers1: :cheers1:

Jim,

There are roughly 20 anis where the clubs and the hands don't perfectly line up. If the ani is 6'3" or taller or 5'8" or shorter than the issue occurs. Admittedly, it looks ridiculous at certain angles, but I'm anal retentive and I couldn't stand seeing Brian Harman (5'7") and Dustin Johnson (6'4") be the same height in the game.

The clubs and hands didn't bother me that much as it had no impact on the game play. However, I did recently find that the 6'3" and 6'4" guys had some graphical clipping on some of the courses where their heads smeared all over the screen because they were too tall. While I could tolerate the hands/clubs issue, I couldn't tolerate the smearing so I'm in the process of fixing those. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to reduce the height of the 6'3" and 6'4" guys down to 6'2" in order to resolve the issue. The good news is that the hands and clubs issue will be way less noticeable when I fix that group of anis.

As for the hands and clubs not aligning on that group of anis, I have been trying feverishly to fix it. I've changed the angle of the clubs, the length of the clubs and the combo of the length and the angle and haven't had any luck yet. There has to be a way to fix it so after I get pissed off from failing for a few days, I step away until I'm in a better mood to get back to the grind.

Until it's fixed you will have to deal with the hands and the clubs issue. Because it's such a small number of anis impacted, I can probably count on one hand how many people would ever even use those anis to notice it. I'll let you know after I fix the super tall guys and have a new version to download. I'll also report back if I get a fix for the issue.

Thanks BSJC,

I kind of thought that was the problem. I can ignore the clubs. Theegala is still leading my new tournament.
Of course he has the no-touching the club advantage! :cheers1:

I admit, I haven't been keeping up, JC. Where is the link to your animasters site? *** Found the Link! ***

It's more difficult to sign in with an email. I don't really trust "Sign in with Google" or "Sign in with Facebook". I have to be really careful to sign in with my email and not the 1st "Sign Up" sign in, unless I don't really have to "Log In" each time I come to the site.

Pete,

Not sure what you mean. Outside of posting on the forum you shouldn't have to sign in to anything. Given there are exactly zero posts on the forum, I wouldn't worry too much about signing into that at the present.

While I have you though, I know you are big on the LSPN side of Links. Would it be worth my time to post something on that forum regarding the anis, etc? I was on that site the other night and it has a lot more traffic than LC, and while I think there are a lot of the same people visiting both sites, I do think that site has a lot of people on it that don't frequent LC.

I guess my point is that I'm reaching a point with all this that I feel like it's becoming a waste of time because there is so little interest. I'll be honest, I want to wake up every day to 25 new posts about anis that I can engage and have discussion about. That's just my personality. That doesn't happen at LC so I was hoping to drum up some interest over at LSPN if you thought it was worth it.

If you don't, I'll probably finish up my last several PGA anis and head off into the sunset as I feel like I've accomplished what I wanted to accomplish.
