I suspect you have not installed the Links 1.07 patch. That is pretty much a requirement for Windows now, Also the 'Nvidia' patch should also be considered mandatory.
In theory the RuKsHuk fix should be in the 1.07 patch, this fixes the no CD in the drive issue, this is part of the copy protection used in the day and which Microsoft no longer supports.

Re: Microsoft Update 24H2
Thanks pmgolf and dwg for the info. I will probably try dwg's solution first as, if I remember correctly, in the past those patches solved a universal issue users had. In the past I had not needed the RuKsHuk fix, but good to be reminded of it in case the patches do not resolve the problem.

Re: Microsoft Update 24H2
Just installed 24H2 from updates everything works perfect here. Even my resolutions are fine which where not when I installed 24H2 manually I had lots of problems sorting them out. Just one thing did not work and that was my FTP Client, I tried a few different ones and opted for Core FTP LE which works fine. Anyway happy for now. I hope I do not run into any other problems later.

To dwg:
Finally got some time to get back to this issue, when I realized I don't even know where to find the .107 or Nvidia patches. Age and just a short absence from the game have left me pretty rusty.
Cheers Dave

Re: Microsoft Update 24H2
Totally confused! Downloaded the 2 zip files for .107 and Nvidia opened zips and clicked on files and now on my desktop I have 2 more Standard Links icons labelled "2k3.107" and "2K3 n". I noticed there were references to installing various patches and fixes etc. in the original links text, but no info there on how to do an install. Any additional help would be appreciated

Re: Microsoft Update 24H2
Put the 2 patches in your main Links folder. Double click both patches(one file at a time) to execute.Captain Nemo wrote: ↑January 3rd, 2025, 7:12 pm Totally confused! Re: Microsoft Update 24H2
gobucks : Installed as directed, but on execution Links crashed to a small black screen that described a display problem (something about 3d display) and an auto fix. This allowed Links to start in standard screen. Do you know how I get Links to display in wide screen?

You need to edit the registry as mentioned in this thread viewtopic.php?t=478

Hi Stephen,
Just a quick note to say that the Hot Key info you directed me to in the old posting does not resemble the Hot key info I see in Windows 11.
I tried to post copies of the two, but was unable to send that post so you could see how different they are.
Thanks Dave
