Wouldn't records depend on several factors? For instance:

1) choice of tees
2) choice of wind
3) choice of settings for green speed and hardness
3) choice of difficulty level of the game (Amateur, Professional, Champ, Elite)...

To be honest we don't need new courses, there is already a ton of them. I only see a need of updating some of them, due to a change of layout, and generally to be updated visually. And also, to be honest, after playing EA PGA TOUR, PGA TOUR 2K21 and 2K23, Perfect Golf, and whatnot, I always go back...
