I don't remember anyone ever doing it or starting it. It was CB Macdonald or Seth Raynor that designed it I think. Would it be too short in Links?

Course is listed as par 70 and 6950 yards long. Could add say 10 yards for par 3's, 20 yards for par 4's and 30 yards for par 5's making course play 340 yards longer at 7290. Not sure if some holes require lay ups for drives as have to use 3 woods at most, otherwise run out into trouble. If so that would make course play longer than yardage listed. Some real courses fit into such a tight space thinking about Merion that there is not real space to make holes longer and here thinking about Augusta that might have been played this week. They have consistently added yardage to holes at Augusta through the years and a few holes such as #13 are being considered to be lengthened. Chicago has many holes that are replicas of famous holes on other courses.

Or can you make it a less than par 70 course? Does the designer allow for a par 65 course. :scared:

You can make courses with par 54 (all par 3s) so Im thinking anything between that and 90 should work. While on the short side, personally I cant imagine 6950 being too short for a par 70, at least not enough to absolutely demand something changed.

The only Chicago clubs I recall Medinah and Cog Hill Dubsdread. A side note-my wife and I were in Chicago and I try to collect shirts from the name clubs. Even the private clubs usually let you in (but not inside the clubhouse) if you phone ahead and show some respect. The folks at Cog Hill were exceptionally nice (I still had to pay for the shirt... )
