Southcitygolf,

Which version are we using this week?

Thanks! I would like to get a couple practice rounds in before the tourney.

Jim

:clapping: These will be your course and conditions for First round... :kicking:

TPC Sawgrass Updated (2019) BETA
by Anders Besserman / Philip Steyn
:tiphat:
The course we'll be using is TPC Sawgrass Updated (2019). The rough is not really penalizing in any of the Sawgrass versions so I went with this version because of the green contours. This course wasn't much of a challenge at MC/MC but with the green speeds faster, we hope to see a improvement in difficulty.
At this time, the course conditions for the first round will be Gusty, MC/FC which places it about 13 on the stimp meter.

https://linkscorner.org/courses/course.php?crz=2462

Release Date 2019-03-14 : LC_ID # 2462
CRZ Filename: TPC Sawgrass- Updated
Cond. - Gusty - MC/FC = 13.0

**I used the pin position of last years Final round for my practice round

Pin Placements for your
Practice round.....

1- 5 10- 2
2- 1 11- 2
3- 2 12- 0

The old Besserman rendition #887 has penalty rough. The yardage at 7,087 yards is a bit shorter, but many of the holes are at the same length as the current setup. In addition, the 12th hole can be played at close to its original yardage, as the experiment of only playing it at around 300 yards was abandoned a few years ago and the tees are only moved up for a round or two now (last year it played at around 370 yards for three rounds.) This version also doesn't have the pond to the left of 12 green as that was added after this Besserman version was created.

I haven't played that version in some time, but the main issue that I remember is that the greens seemed kind of tricked up and at times unrealistic, which may eliminate it from consideration.

I don't play in the tournaments you've set up because I just don't know how to get into them and only offer this in response to your comment about the rough and due to the hole 12 yardage difference.

Thank you dko for reaching out...

Only problem we might have with the old Besserman rendition #887 is that it was released 2002-05-01. That was before the Links 06 and 07 versions came out. The course might not be able to handle challenging conditions. That left me the 2019 update and the Sage Vanni courses. The more Sage courses I've seen, the bigger fan I have become but his greens are pretty flat on these TPC Sawgrass's.

:kicking:
If you have Links 2003, You can join along with all the fun because this is NOT a tournament and it's not a league. Nothing organized. I'm just giving some pin placements and green conditions. If you enjoy watching the pro's on TV and want to play the course setup similar to what they are playing, that's all I'm offering. No competition. All my suggestions are just that, suggestions. If anyone wants to change anything, your more than welcome.

Got an invite to play a Stableford match vs Hideki Matsuyama where all the proceeds go to Save the Rhinos of Botswana Charity. The match ended up in a tie points wise but I did beat him by scoring a +2 compared to his +3. Lets just say the course won this one...

I was curious so played it at M(C)F(C) in Practice Mode with breezy conditions and random pins; it worked well, but let's just say that some pin placements would not be "Mickelson-approved." :wallbash:

One of our fellow hacker informed me to watch out for pin # 8 on hole 16. I informed him that at least last year, they didn't use that pin (there are three pins in that area). So I opened the game in practice mode and sure enough. That's a real shitty pin position for challenging conditions. So I imagine with random pins, you might get a location that doesn't work.
I use the pin sheet's they post on the PGA Tour Media's web site ...
