Was getting ready in the clubhouse for a practise round at Bay Hill for the upcoming Arnold Palmer Invitational. Really excited about this week as I’ve always wanted to tee it off with the pros at my favorite course when I hear a voice “hey rook, you up for a friendly skins game? You’ve made some cash on the tour this year let me take some of it”. I turned around and it’s none other than Rickie Fowler standing there talking to little old me. Never the one to run away from a challenge I accepted. You’ll have to watch the match to see the result. I’m off to buy a new car

Play smart, you don’t always need the Driver or shoot right at the pin what I was told by a very smart fellow when I first picked up golf. Read the hole pick your club and execute. The score after Round 1 was the result of those wise words. 3 under at the turn a missed FW on 10 but great recovery shot for a bird. Flushed a 9 iron on 11 and drained a 14-footer for another bird. Played smart on the par 5 12th and layed up to the 70Y mark then left a 4-foot putt with my LW for a 3rd bird in a row. Disaster came on the 17th with a double bogie, one of the toughest par 3s in golf. Headed to the 18th mad at myself for giving away 2 shots I knew how tough 18 can play also. After a so-so approach I was left with a 29-foot left to right putt that I was praying to not roll off the green. Love this course…

Shot a terrible 81, don't even want to talk about it. A few fans and volunteers kept asking if I was supposed to be here.

This post made me laugh. Not the 81 score but "the supposed to be here part"....

Sorry Jim, but I hope you shoot the lights out in round 2

Got an early start on round 2, birdied the first hole, should have walked off and went home as only made 2 pars on the rest of the front nine, including a maddening 8 on the 7th hole where I kept going down the hill then back down the hill again on the green, made the turn in 46. At the turn, took a deep breath and said c'mon you can do better than this, I put my peg in the ground at #10 and striped a drive down the fairway, leading to a very ho-hum unexciting back 9 with 7 pars, an 11 foot birdie at #12 and a disappointing bogey at #17 finishing the back nine at an even par 36 for an 82 and a weekend free to get ready for the Players Championship next week (if they still allow me to play in it)

A round under par should be a great round but round 2 felt like e let down. When you hit %100 FW you should be scoring well. The flat stick and some questionable approach shots resulted in disappointing round of golf. 2 under at the turn and was 3 under after a great approach on 16 to within 5 feet but missed the double eagle. Was very happy with a par on 17 even though I played the wrong club but the 18 bit me hard with a bad approach in the water but held on for a bogie. Love this course….
