Hi, can someone explain the format the current tree tetures are - or what file format the trees used on most courses are .. eg .fbx or whatever .. or is it possible to convert whatever form they currently are so they can be viewed in an app like 3ds max.. for manipulation and possible texture tweaking

From what I've seen, they're .tga files.

Yeah trees are 2D in Links. You could make a 3D tree, but it would be a lot of work for very little payoff since Links doesnt do any viewpoints in motion anyway. I dont think anyone has ever bothered.

Yes, from non-locked courses that contain those objects anyway, with Links Extender viewtopic.php?t=66

Note that APCD and Links can only handle TGA files (need to be 32-bit - i.e. containing transparency info) up to 1024x1024 pixels.

Thanks Adelade.. very helpful... so for example.. if I opened lets say a Sage or any "non locked course .. I can in some way "access these textures ,,, then create a single vertical plane within 3ds max .. and assign these ... texture.. but how can i extract theses textures from an open course in to use them .. or indeed even View them

Not sure if I understand your question. You download Links Extender > open it > click CRZ File > Open Crz file > Browse to the course file you want > wait for it to load > select 2D Objects from the drop-down list > Highlight the ones you want to extract (just get the ones ending with an A, skip B C D E versions) > press Export > Browse to Documents\Links Extender v2 where you'll find the exported TGA files.

Is your goal to try create 3D trees for use in APCD? In that case, there are a few more things to consider.
