I have posted this in the Microsoft Community Questions and Answers hoping Microsoft might listen and hear what this update is doing to our great Golfing Sim.
(I have been playing Links 2003 for 25 years as thousands of others have, this new 24H2 update stops it working, it was bad enough getting it working on 23H2. Will there be a fix for this in the future there are many thousands of linksters playing this game. Why should people be forced to update to this new update when it stops a program working that they have played and made many friends playing online. All of the compatibility modes do not work running on Windows 7 and the like. Could you give Microsoft a nudge to try and sort this out. There are a lot of players of Links 2003 getting very worried about this update.)

Re: Microsoft Update 24H2
You may also want to avail yourself of the Feedback Hub app in Windows 11. Choose to let it record an attempted Links 2003 launch and submit so they can diagnose it.

Got this reply from the Microsoft community.
(Hi Daniel Watson5
Welcome to Microsoft Community.
Based on your description, I understand that after updating to 24H2 you found that “Links 2003” was not working properly, and I understand how you feel!
Rest assured, my friend, that after seeing your thread as an example, I sent your problem back to the development team via the Feedback Center.
In addition to that, you seem to mention that “Links 2003” runs poorly on 23h2, but I think it should at least work.
So if you'd like, maybe we can go back to 23h2 and at least make sure it plays properly first.
You can refer to the information in that thread: Download iso of windows 11 that is older than the newest update (a - Microsoft Community
The way to download the 23h2 ISO file is provided in this thread.
If you have the time you might be able to try downgrading your system to 23h2, but make sure you back up your important data completely when downgrading to avoid losing your data!
In addition to this if you have the time, you can submit your ideas and suggestions through the Feedback Hub (Send feedback to Microsoft with the Feedback Hub app - Microsoft Support), and the development team will regularly review submissions for ideas or fixes.
Please share the feedback link here after submitting as it will allow others on the forum to vote for your submission, including me. More votes will lead to more visibility and higher priority to the development team.
I sincerely hope that the above information will help you! Please feel free to contact me (Photos related to the question would be great!).
I am looking forward to hearing back from you.
Best Regards

I have replied to Arthur telling him I am now back on 23H2,and that some Linksters had lots of problems with 23H2 not playing Links 2003 never mind the 24H2 update.

Re: Microsoft Update 24H2
Daniel, I have had no issues with the 23H2 update to Windows 11. It's fine graphically, and I've had no crashes at all
Re: Microsoft Update 24H2
Me to Stephen but where talking about the 24h2 the new windows 11 update or maybe they call it Windows 12. It will not play Links 2003
Re: Microsoft Update 24H2
Well guys I finely got links running in the 24H2 update, but it was not easy.
First before I tried to install Links 2003l I got all of the updates in from Microsoft updates in settings, it put the Nvidia driver in but it was and old version, so I installed the latest Nvidia driver. I installed Links ran it in compatibility mode for windows 7 and run as Admin and, as before got a black screen. So I then put all the patches in and tried again using the Links MMI which I pinned to the task bar so I could see the Icon at all times and I did not use the Links Launcher.
I still had a black screen, so I put the task manager on to get back to the desktop, I noticed that Links was trying to run in the background behind the black screen as I was putting the task manager on. So I clicked on the Links Icon again on my task bar when the black screen came on I let it run I could hear the Links music in the background trying to play stopping and starting but I let it run till the music stopped which took about five minutes .
I then shut Links down with the task manager and went to the REG to put the hack in because Links was playing music it must have been showing a display behind the black screen there was at last a display showing in the REG I put my resolution in went back to the Links Icon clicked on it and Links came on without a problem. .
I must say it took a while to get it running but running it is. You will get the Links Launcher on your desktop after you install Links put this in the Bin, go to the Microsoft Games Folder and pin the Links MMI to your task bar run it in compatibility mode for windows 7 and run as Admin and do not forget to and use that it works a lot better than the Launcher.
One thing I found was when altering me desktop resolution which is different to Links resolution it cocked the Game up so I have to use my native resolution on my desktop for Links to work.

Re: Microsoft Update 24H2
I had another reply from the Windows community here it is.
Long time no see.
Thank you very much for taking the time to share in detail your experience and exploration of running Links 2003 on Windows 24H2.
Being able to keep on loving and accompanying this game for many years really makes people feel the preciousness of the game and friendship!
Your detailed sharing has not only helped many people who are also experiencing problems, but also provided valuable feedback to the technical team, and I believe they will take it seriously and continue to improve the compatibility issues.
I've sent your follow-up findings to the development team via the Feedback Center. And I marked your reply “Yes”.
It's not easy to keep up the enthusiasm, especially in the face of technical challenges. I hope Links 2003 will continue to bring you and your friends fun times. Thank you for your perseverance and sharing to make the gaming community a warmer place!

Daniel -- Thank you for your excellent effort to help the Links community!
Re: Microsoft Update 24H2
FWIW - you can still opt out of the Windows 11 update. There are options on the screen allowing you to deny the upgrade - at least temporarily. Are you ready to jump into the Windows 11 pot where you can't go back to Windows 10 - or would you prefer to wait and gather more information - it's your choice!
