Have you tried windowed mode if you were previously playing full-screen? I'm seeing some weird stuff in fullscreen after 24h2 w/ a full Radeon card.

You can alter it in regedit:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Links 2003\DisplaySettings
windowed 1

Hi John are you saying you got links working with the 24H2 Update in window mode. My card is an Nvidia 3070.

Yes, I'm having to play in windowed mode only after the 24H2 update. This is the first time something like this has happened w/ a dedicated AMD Radeon card.

Hopefully this gets sorted. For the AMD card if you launch in fullscreen it will blink and go black in a series and never allow you control of the UI. It looks like there is a problem with it trying to anti-alias. Eventually you have to kill the process w/ task manager. I tried it in Windowed mode and it works, though still without anti-aliasing, but better than nothing.

Did you download the update yourself and install it, or was it in the updates for windows. I personally downloaded it myself to install to test it.

I reinstalled the 24H2 update to test it again and still after 5 hours of trying to get it to work nothing would work. I tried going into the register to make it go to window mode but even that would not work. I went back to recovery in the system window once it put my OS back to 23H2 it stopped Links from running also. I have two cloned drives thankfully so I installed one of those to get things running smoothly again. Once I had my system running again it came to me that maybe this 24H2 was corrupting some Links files and it's registry files. The next time I try it I am going to copy the Microsoft games folder and it's registry setting to an external drive before I update to 24H2. I will then delete the Microsoft games folder and the registry setting and copy them back to see if this works. There is going to be a lot of Linksters disappointed with this new update you can be sure of that. You might ask why not just do a clean install I tried that it would not load. So I thought seeing as the files are already there I would just replace them with the copied file from 23H2.

I used Google to find "turn off windows updates" more than 6 months ago, and it still doesn't run them. I can't believe the arrogance of Microsoft to run program changes that turn off your PC's ability to run older applications and then ignore the user's complaints. My backup PC still works fine, and it is running Windows 7.

I have given up on this new 24H2 I used one of my spare drives and did a clean install of 24h2 I got Links on my desktop but all it did was flick from one part of Links when loading up to another as though it was taking pictures with no mouse working. I went to the system setting and turned off the pictures it takes of your screen every few secondes but it was not this causing it. I got messages up saying it was 3D Excelleration that may be the problem. I went to the dxdiag but 3D Excelleration was enabled. It is just a waste of time trying to get Links to run. I will not be getting the update if I can help it, if they force it onto your PC I will buy an old cheap PC with Windows 7 on it. It might be the only way to go in future. Or I could keep swapping my drives with just the 23H2 on them which will be a pain up the backside.
