Also known as Putt Putt. Started out in Fayetteville, NC 1955.

Many great days and nights played when young as had lights and there were arcade buildings along with snack food to eat. Games in 60's cost roughly a dollar to play then. I usually used my own putter as there was an extra charge to get loaner. There were red, green, blue and yellow golf balls and lights for each course with those colors. The business would make an announcement if on course where playing if got hole in one when color of ball using matched light on---then would get discount. They usually took people's word about making a hole in one and then would trade balls to where played rest of round with silver ball---so as not to win twice. Also if made hole in one on last hole then would get free game and business would again take people's word that they had made a hole in one. The most popular design was a hole of length about 30 feet, but having to go up about a 6 feet incline before reaching hole on flat area at top---kind of like the experience of playing some Mike Jones holes in Links. There used to be national Putt Putt tournament played during summertime and match play rounds were shown on tv for about a month along with local tournaments, but never did compete in them only playing some city junior golf tournaments and high school golf. Have heard about Tiger creating a mini golf game with sand traps where would be chip and putt. I would guess if hit into a sand trap would be forced to putt out of it if only had use of just a putter unless would treat as hazard taking a stroke penalty and dropping back on synthetic grass.

Tillicum Island Putting Course would be similar to one of Tiger's courses as has sand traps and checking briefly first hole plays 38 yards, kind of long using just a putter and seem to remember in past some shots had to carry over water---so will play a round now to remember and intend to play using lw and a putter, not just a putter.

St. Andrews Putting Course is real and not fictional, but looking at attached video included by the designer Stewart Parker shows computer player chipping and not putting on the first hole.
