The texture total, according to Linkster, is around the 100 mark (1024x1024). When I reduced them to in the 80's there was no problem. (Pelican hill is a file for two courses which when sent by Linkster had 72 overheads covering the two courses.)
As for the verts, the only number I know is 500,000 which was mentioned by Linkster in a post regarding downloading a DEM.
Good luck.

Ian,
Over the years I my observations are that Links has generally worked the best with Nividia, it seems to be the platform that supports translucent shadows for example, I rarely see problems on my desktop which has Nvidia. I have not had any Radeon hardware for some years so cannot speak about that.
To be blunt, Intel GPUs have generally been crap with Links with lots of problems, it has basically been unusable.
The problems have nothing to do with the hardware it is all drivers. For example my Linux machines have intel GPUs and work well with Links, putting paid to the idea that the problem is the hardware. Wine converts DirectX calls to OpenGL on the platform.
The DirectX wrappers we are using with Links on Intel GPUs overcome the basic problems they act as a shim converting calls to a newer Direct X version. I still however have problems with some courses using the dgVoodoo wrapper, but have not had problems playing courses using the DDrawCompat wrapper.
The course crashing Links on Nvidia was a surprise.
