I agree with Des and Doug, I missed so many short putts. Excuse 1
I putted with green putter when I meant to putt with the brown putter. Excuse 2. (Is there a way to make the brown putter the default? Other than getting the approach shot within 20 feet of the pin.)
When I was in the rough, just off the green, I selected the putter to see the break and forgot to reselect my lob wedge. Excuse 3
I was absolutely rubbish. Excuse 4.
Water again on 14 followed by three putting. (What is it about hole 14?)
I did finish birdie, birdie, to finish with a
79.
Perhaps the sub-par round is coming tomorrow.

Something is not adding up for me here.
I've looked back and it seems the stimp settings for Harbour Town are roughly the same as Augusta in here, that can't be right surely. Augusta has bent Greens like Royal Melbourne which can be quite slick, but Harbour Town basically has bermuda i.e a type of couch, which is a deal slower and is not as fine a grass.

The green speed has been on the speedy side but not too far out of line. MC/FC =13 and FC/MC=13.3 . Being I didn't design the course, I have no control over a Bermuda green or a Poa with an overseeded rye. I'm just working with what I have.
Could the greens be slower? yeah Does the FC/MC make a difference? I think so with it very hard to hold greens. Playing out of the rough, your not going to have any backspin to slow the ball down. but I think the gusty with the smallish greens have made the bigger difference. My last round , I missed two, inside 7ft(2M) putts.

and as always, If you don't like it, change it. If it's too fast? slow it down. Too windy? make it breezy. Remember it's a game, and a 20+ year old game at that and Have Fun

I don't think so. All you can do is go to "Game" options to activate the short swing meter. Then in "Players" options, make sure your caddy is checked, but you still have to toggle the magnifying glass to swap between short and long meter.

The short meter is half the power of the long meter

The 14th at Harbour Town is one of the greatest medium to long Par 3s in my opinion. Beautiful but visually intimidating with the surrounding water. It doesn't pay to shoot for the flag depending on where the Pin is cut sometimes it's better to play to the opening of the green and let the ball roll on, deal with the putt after

I was reading all the posts about how fast the greens are playing and how tough it is to score then I go and shoot this for round 3.

Got my 3rd round in, started with 3 putt bogey, 2 birdies and then birdies at #5 and #8 to go out in 33, birdie at 10 and then a birdie from the sand at #12 and then parred in to come in with 33 shots to finish 33-33=66 5 under par. 10 fairways, 11 greens, 25 putts. Finally able to score at Harbour Town.

For a 20+ y.o. game Links holds up very well. I think it still works well today and does not require excessive hardware, your average computer in 2026 should cope with it nicely. I mostly have i5's but do have an old i3 running Linux (2012 model) that still plays it pretty well today. Running Windows it would not. Links courses still look good in my book.
I have 3 different stimp setting to Links setting, sets of tables. One done by Adelade in recent times, that looks to be a thorough bit of research, one done by Highfade when AJ was developing the mod and sought to initially show relative changes when AJ made slight changes to the formula, I do not know who created the third. I suspect there is a bit of rubber in some settings.
I think for the next tournament, I will look at what various sites say and try some different settings, of course my using RTS is likely to put a twist on things, but I will be sticking with this swing type, it is the closest to the real thing that I can see, Powerstroke was looking quite good until the click for the wrist snap.
Also thanks to PMgolf for the guide to including a stock fade and draw into RTS, that was one thing missing from the swing type.

A 67, thanks to a kick-in eagle on 5 and a hole out on 13. Otherwise, the usual struggle of just trying to figure out how to make par, with mediocre success.
