For you guys who don't know me, I'm Doug Hurst and "GoesForIt" on lspn. For the last year, I've been helping Mark with the PLSA over there... the tour that follows as closely as possible the Pro Tour. One reason I did this is because the schedule got off-track and many of the pin positions were poorly selected.
I've selected Glenn Braden's Atlantic Athletic Club course for the upcoming U. S. Open (switching from Bethpage Black because I think Glenn's course is closer to Winged Foot West (WFW)) and because the tournament starts a week from tomorrow.
I've worked for a few hours with Glenn's course making sure the pin positions are fair for all modes, regular and challenging. For all 4 rounds, I go practice mode, putting only, then for every pin, putt to it from all 4 sides. I then go back to "Play through" just to look at the pin position in the overhead mode to see if I like that about it). It's a tedious process and I would need to do all that with WFW before I'd feel good about using it this year.
I would like nothing better than to use the correct course, WFW, but if it's not available to me very, very soon, I'll have to skip it until next year.
You can write me at dougmhurst@gmail.com or just post here as to whether it's going to be available in the next couple of days.

You stole my surprise Sage ;)
Golfers of all kinds, WATCH this video in all it's 4K glory, amazing views of the great Winged Foot in it's beautiful Fall colors. Just can't say enough about the restoration Gil Hanse did here. And to think I had tickets and a hotel room within walking distance of Winged Foot this year...

Hey Doug, I understand your position, sorry it won't be ready till Thursday, but there is so much to do. After getting under the hood, the course needed alot of mesh work, no clubhouse, and had hundreds of trees removed, so it needs a complete re-plant. I'm also trying to make all new textures, but probably won't happen. I have made a new sand/raked sand texture I'm really excited about though.GoesForIt wrote: ↑September 10th, 2020, 1:52 am For you guys who don't know me, I'm Doug Hurst and "GoesForIt" on lspn. I can promise you there will be a Winged Foot West Thursday morning, Texas time USA however. I can also send you the beta Tuesday night if interested. Thats about all I can offer.
As for pins, placing pins on greens like this will be precarious. I'm researching USGA pin positions in the past and they will be on there for sure. I'm planning on 8 pins hopefully, and 4 sets of tees. email me if interested - dorse72@gmail.com
Let me leave everyone with this amazing shot from the USGA to drool over...#9 & #18 and the beautiful clubhouse beyond, so you can see why a clubhouse needed to be added as there was nothing beyond the holes before.

Re: Winged Foot West - US Open 2020
#16,Hells-Bells, par 4, 498 yds, tough par 4, dogleg left, requires a draw and have to avoid 110' tall tree guarding front left of green.
Re: Winged Foot West - US Open 2020
#17, Well-Well, par 504 yds of pure joy, slight turn to the right, hole resembles #8, slight downhill approach, big 'Elephant ear' traps left & right - good luck.
