Links PGA Tour 2026 - U.S. Open

Welcome to the "Links PGA Tour" where we simulate the conditions of the PGA Tour. **We select the green speed and Pin positions with the courses we have in the data base, to give you the feel of playing along side the Pro's. ** All holes are played from the back tees.

Check the video(s) for round 2. Unsurprisingly, I got kicked out twice.

If a course is going to crash on me it seems to be mostly when it is loading, at least on my Windows desktop, on my Window notebook it sometimes hangs when I use the Green Analyzer, but it is recoverable. I am using the DDrawCompat wrapper on the notebook as it has an Intel GPU.

I tend not to see the same problems with Links on Linux.

Des, I occasionally get the message that I don't have enough virtual memory, and I wonder if that is why I keep getting interrupted. Given my limited tech know-how, I'm not sure how to resolve it.

Doug,

That is a Windows level message it normally means your Window page file is too small.

It could cause Links to crash, the operating system could force that, it would be more common if you have a lot of applications running and It would also be more common on machines with limited memory at the same time. Links itself does not put a great deal of strain on memory. As a 32 bit application the maximum address space is 4GB, on 32 bit windows this was initial split 2GB for the system and 2GB for the applications, and later changed to 1GB and 3GB, Links uses nowhere near this. You will see in Links setting how much addressable memory the system is allowing for Links, it is probably around 1GB.

The setting is in Windows setting.

I would be concerned you potentially do not have enough physical memory in the system.

Well that was bloody difficult.

Land on the green roll off the back, land short of the green and either:

a) Roll off the back
b) Roll back down well in front of the green

I landed one shot 30 metres short and it still went off the back.

We were not amused!

It was only through some inspired putting and bunker play (otherwise known as blind luck) that I shot another 73.

Round 2 was a struggle on the front 9 and a disastrous 4 over par 10th hole. It took a couple of birdies and an almost Eagle on the 18th hole that stopped 10 inches from the hole. Currently sitting close to the projected +3 cut line at +2.
Putt the ball already....

Thomas,

I originally planned to post and ask if I could use a Round Mulligan and try Round 1 again and I saw your comment in one of the recaps so I replayed Round 1 and the results were markedly better but not that great, as I shot 36-39=75 for a five-over first round. I will not be able to get Round 2 in tonight so I plan to get in 36 tomorrow as long as I can keep it on the fairway and hit greens in regulation and maybe make some putts.

I watched more of the coverage today and marveled at how I recognized some of the same trouble areas that the pros were encountering.

Thanks again to Linkster for cranking the course out so quickly!

Jim
