Not much help to anyone, but it loads on one of my Linux systems
For Windows, I have an Nvidia system, plus an Intel notebook that has DDrawCompat installed and can switch it to dgVoodoo easily so happy to try on any of those if it would help.

I reduced the verts/faces again but the result was the same, played with AMD graphics card and not with INTEL.
There is something not right with the file as it takes so much time to work on the file and to save the file. The file size for Green Bay is 70000KB and for Pelican Hill 158000KB, with the two courses looking like they are at the same stage, (Pelican Hill file is for both North and South course.)
The save time for Pelican Hill is much faster than Green Bay.
Hopefully Linkster will have a better understanding of the problem, and a solution.
Good luck.

Sage,
How many saved files do you keep? (I am a pessimist so I keep all my saves until I issue the course Final, then I delete them.)
I have had two major problems while building Pelican Hill, the first was, according to Linkster, too many textures which was easily corrected. The second time I had a problem was similar but as I knew the number of textures was OK I looked elsewhere, but I couldn't find an answer.
My solution was going back to the last file that loaded to Links and then making the changes again little by little with a V&S after each change. It took me about 5 days to get back to where I was, but I had a playable file. For once being an pessimist paid dividends.

Out of interest I tried to load the course on a system with the DDrawCompat wrapper, the dgVoodoo wrapper and a system with no wrapper but an Nvidia GT1030.
Links crashed on all three configurations.

Des,
I can believe that with the Intel graphics it doesn't work, but is it normal that a program will function normally with an AMD graphic card and not with a Nvidia card?
The subject is way beyond my limited knowledge but it does seem crazy.

Ok, everybody can wash down a few panadol with a couple of beers and relax. That's good news Sage, although it's not helping my growing APCD paranoia.
Ian, if you read this I just have a couple of questions. Just wondering how many textures was too many? And what is considered a safe, acceptable vert count? At the moment I have over 430,000 verts with only fairways, greens and a few paths painted in. No bunker work, no 3D work and no seam blending. Admittedly, I will lose a large number cropping the plot and simplifying other areas but was wondering do you or anyone know what the limit seems to be?

Todd,
The texture total, according to Linkster, is around the 100 mark (1024x1024). When I reduced them to in the 80's there was no problem. (Pelican hill is a file for two courses which when sent by Linkster had 72 overheads covering the two courses.)
As for the verts, the only number I know is 500,000 which was mentioned by Linkster in a post regarding downloading a DEM.
Good luck.
