I think it is more because of panos going through a really crude and awful colour compression, with a very limited selection of colours showing up on them.

Back when I first read this thread, I also tried to do the same type of mask editing from Ian's screenshot in Paint.net, but the problem is that the water on the panorama has sort of two main colours with relatively high variance in brightness that are sort of "speckled" unevenly in different areas of the pano. Take this zoomed in part of the screenshot shown below as an example:

You see the water texture at the bottom half, and the panorama on the upper. The panorama has way more of the darker pixels on the left side of the image, and way more of the brighter pixels on the right side. Making the water texture match up with the dominant (darker) pano colour on the left side will make it look weird on the right side, and making the water texture match up with the dominant (brighter) pano colour on the right side will make it look weird on the left side... You can try make an in-between colour for the water texture, but I tried that and it didnt really look much better than in Ian's screenshot, so I dropped it there.

The other option is to change the panorama after all, which is probably what I would have done in this case if it was my course, but then the water on the panorama would likely end up looking really bland... Unless you indeed find another panorama that simply looks better and is easier to work with, but then it has to also fit the location enough since it is a real course... I really, really hate working with panoramas because of this awful compression. Most of the time when I had similar issues on courses I worked on, I settled for having more bland-looking panorama water as a "lesser of evils".

Adelade,
Nice to hear rom you, hope you are well.

I originally made this post thinking that somebody would already have a an ocean texture that matches the Ocean panorama. How simple am I?

After all the comments, for which I am extremely grateful, I have decided to leave the textures that I have.

I am sure the five or six people who will play the course will not mind.

Thanks again.

:tiphat:
