Thanks for advice. I'll put it on the burner list but meanwhile keep ferreting away!

Interesting ------- On the Seam Blend Icon, I swiched the 2 items to be blended, which meant I didn't have to worry about "reverse i/o direction" and, hey presto, it worked perfectly - my file size stays low and the game plays - maybe DGVoodoo is very particular!

OK Think problem sorted:-

(1) APCD doesn't like large textures above 1024 x 1024 pixels, and

(2) a dodgy seam blend file which caused a massive jump in file size - now corrected
