I am curious as to why Pebble Beach Classic rendition was chosen over the Pebble Beach 2004 rendition of the course.

dwg,

I was curious about that as well but I don't think it would matter to my scoring LOL!

3rd round complete, best round of the year for me! Got out early before conditions could worsen, shot 33-36=69, best off the tee and approaches pretty good, still misclubbed once or twice led to bogeys, worse hole was #18, nice drive beside the tree, slightly hooked 3 W onto the rocks, dropped in heavy rough, came up short left in bunker, exploded out into the rough, chip to 9 feet and made double bogey putt. Flat stick was pretty good, only 26 putts, 12 fairways and 13 greens.

Pebble Beach 2004 only has about 6 or 7 pins to choose from. The Classic ver I'm using has 17 each hole. Thank you for asking :cheers1:

Teed off for round 3 hoping to keep up with top guys but had an up and down round. Some bad decisions plus the green speeds had me guessing every putt. Managed a 6 under par thanks to 2 eagles especially the chip in on 14.

Southcitygolf,

Thank you for answering the question about Pebble Beach versions used, I thought that maybe there had been some kind of change to the course between the 2 versions and that maybe they had reverted back to how it was, as the Classic edition we are playing was made a year earlier than the Pebble Beach 2004 course. I had thought pin positions could have been why but didn't do my own research, thanks for this fun play along series!

Pinseeker, another nice round!

Jim

I skimmed these threads, looks pretty cool, similar to something I had ideas about perhaps starting up some day but never came to be (yet). I applaud the effort and like many of the conditions chosen. I also like your scores being in the realistic range. I'd definitely be tempted to test it out if I was actually playing Links, which Im currently not, but I'd also be a bit worried about pin positions being mid-slope on many of these courses. Also I wouldnt stand a chance, -19 at Torrey Pines south 2013 after 4 rounds - I could never!
