DOWNLOAD ISSUES

Post by Jimbo »

After multiple attempts to reinstall via my discs and getting the "Add Disc One" message (just when I think I managed to get it right) I finallgave up the ghost on trying to load from my discs (although they worked on the same computer last year when I had to reinstall).

1. It's called a "Trial Version but can I still load new courses and treat it like the "Real Thing" or is there a different download at the Likns Clubhouse? (I couldn't find one).
2. When I double-click I get a "This not a Microsoft-verified app". warning and get stopped. It Isays that I can change to recommended settings-how is this done or is there a different workarounf?

Merci.

I know that 20 years ago I wouldn't be posting this! :wallbash:

The load disk one message is expected if you have just installed from CD and done nothing else.

If you load the Version 1.07 update it has the fix for this included as well as allowing you to use 2003T courses, wide screen monitors etc etc.

There was a patch issued just for the No CD problem, but that is all it addresses.

Links uses a particular protection scheme that requires CD #1, however Microsoft discontinued use of this and removed all support from Windows for it not long after, hence the need for a fix, which takes the form of replacing one file.

At the very least I would load Links from CD, apply the 1.07 update, then apply the Nvidia fix (which does more than just fix an Nvidia problem).
