Re: Links PGA Tour 2026 - U.S. Open
Well I was looking foe the pin positions last night and ad saw that we had a new version of Shinnecock to play for the tourney, one that I'dnot had a a cance to play a practice round at the new beta version so I wasn't expecting much especially since I hadn't played Links for a bout a a week since we had last week off and I really didn't expect what I got! drove into a bunker down the right side of the fairway, sand shot hit the green and went though the green, took 5 attempts to get it onto the green without rolling back to me for an opening 9! bogeys, double bogeys and triple bogeys followed, I went out in 51 second nine started better with a par at #9 , a birdie at #15 the only bright spot on my card, came in in 41 for a 51-41=92 only 6 fairways, 4 greens, 30 putts tells the sad sad story just couldn't figure out the wind , and to further help couldn't hit the snap correctly so I didn't hiit a lot of staight shots and putts.
Jim
Thank you to whoever was able to get the course ready this quickly for the tournament! I had shot a 60 in a practiceround on the tournament version which was amazing!

Putt the ball already....
Re: Links PGA Tour 2026 - U.S. Open
Almost wish I hadn't found this version .
Superb 78 in the practice round with the new yardage and new Pro Distance player. Had no Idea where the ball was going out of the rough, really tough for me to pick the right distance and some seemed like flyers. Also did everyone else seem like they had a cross wind on every hole?
Guess I need a lot more practice. The actual rounds submitted need to be recorded right? I'll be playing that one in a few minutes

Ok so here is my actual 1st round
https://youtu.be/H2t66ZstqL8 Not as good as my round on that other course but happy to be under par although it was a struggle.

Re: Links PGA Tour 2026 - U.S. Open
Under Windy conditions I usually either seem to get a strong cross wind or a head wind, rarely a tail wind and never when I could use it! The head winds on this course meant I failed to make the fairway a couple of times.

Welcome aboard Mike,
I found with the Pro Mod player that I couldn't control the distance. I think it's because the angle of the club is the same but now it travels further, and as I found out inconsistantly. It seems if you stretch out the clubs too far the distance gets wonky.
As far as wind direction, it will be different each pc. I've played 5 rounds now and all have started with a helping wind on the first hole, but I practiced earlier and I had more of a cross wind this time. Check with Ian and ask him how much influence a designer can put into a course as far as direction or if it's a rendom thing.

Hello Mike, nice to have another player. Some record their rounds and post on YouTube so others can see, some don't. It's on the honor system.mroach002 wrote: ↑June 19th, 2026, 1:18 am Almost wish I hadn't found this version .Superb 78 in the practice round with the new yardage and new Pro Distance player. As Doug said some record their rounds and post them others do not. It is on the honour system.
Personally I print my scorecard and stats to PDF files and keep them as a record and for comparison, but only post them infrequently.
