Re: Kart Track - Lidar/Could point data vs Laser scan

I've been working on combining DEM's and Lidar point clouds and QGIS and the good ol' APCD for about 1.5 years now and I have learned a few things along the way. Lidar based DEM's are great but they are not perfect, especially when trees, bushes, and grasses get involved. The Lidar point clouds cont...

Re: Ballyhack

It is great to see Ballyhack get to completion! I have been looking forward to this one for a while as the DEM was one of my first that I completed. Great layout over an interesting terrain! The error that seems to come up from time to time sounds like a reflective water issue. Sage, try turning off...

Re: Here we go again...

I agree with Ian, adding verts individually to paint the textures on the DEM plot is the way to go. I prefer to plan my work and draw lines/polygons in QGIS and export them on top of the Google Earth overlay. This gives me an alignment aid on where to add verts and keeps the textures edges smooth. I...

Re: Course keeps crashing Links 2003 the game

The last texture you added (Red-Sand 18) was a 2048x2048 texture. Resized to 1024x1024 and the course was playable in game. I made this mistake more than once with overlay textures!

Links Extender doesn't like the .crz file and won't load it so there might be something else going on ....

Re: Course Requests

Out of all the courses mentioned here so far I have done DEM imports for myself of Congaree and Royal Liverpool (and Royal Troon). Congaree fits my course design preference of a fast, running, modern links course and that is why I looked at it. I hope to get around to finishing the course someday bu...

Re: Pingrid

I shouldn't say anything because this will likely make work for me but ... I generate green slope and contour maps in QGIS for use in the APCD that greatly helps the placement of pins. I do this for courses I have a serious look at and a couple other designers want the green maps to go with their DE...

Re: Max verts

Completely agree with your findings Glenn. I had the max vert count narrowed down to between 530k and 520k so not surprised with 527k. APCD can handle more verts and save the course but will freeze when trying to open the course again. I have actually had a little over 2 million verts in the APCD fo...

Re: Tara Iti and Cape Kidnappers

Yes Tot Hill Farm can be done. I got the elevation data from the same source as Tobacco Road and Pinehurst. It's a little dated from 2015 and in an odd pixel size of 3.125 ft but I can do Tot Hill Farm. Do you have a designer in mind who could finish it for you?

Tara Iti and Cape Kidnappers

Just giving everyone an update that I have both Tara Iti and Cape Kidnappers in the APCD. I have not passed on the files to the perspective designers but that will soon happen. Still working on Tara Iti to get the green shapes right. Couldn't find a good Google Earth image that has clarity of the gr...
