Another thing I'm doing now that seems to work very well (my comment above worked for a while ) is right click on Links icon and select "Trouble shooting compatibility" then "try recommended settings". For 3 months it's worked every time.

Look, just recently I experienced what you're going through, I think. I would click the icon on desktop to start Links and boom, crash! I knew right away that it corresponded to a new Microsoft update. I started by uninstalling my last update and Bingo. Maybe this will help!
