Re: Links 2003 receives improved GPU compatibility
I am beyond astonished as I got links 2003 to work on my windows 11 desktop PC. The last time it worked was probably 4 months ago and I don't know why it stopped working. I gave up hope that I would ever play it again except on a virtual machine which was vastly inferior. I will go through the step...

Re: Links 2003 receives improved GPU compatibility
To those that posted in the last few days, here is my take on resolutions etc Monitor default resolution is 2560x1440 (i.e 2K) as per Larrycleve . I've maximised the display resolution with Links 2003 via the registry to mode 15 (i.e. 1920x1200). Within DDrawCompat, these 2 settings for me are criti...

Re: Links 2003 receives improved GPU compatibility
Altered the config file to AFx16. Links now looks as good as it did via the Nvidia Control Panel (without the wrapper). :cheers1: Still taking multiple restarts to get Links going with/without the wrapper although the wrapper maybe takes less restarts. My installation (with the wrapper) on Win 10 (o...

Re: Links 2003 receives improved GPU compatibility
The feature list https://github.com/narzoul/DDrawCompat/wiki/Configuration shows anisotropic filtering is handled by the section titled 'TextureFilter' and it lists these options for the DDrawCompat config file (line 56: ' TextureFilter = af4x '). app: Use the application-specified filtering. point...

Re: Links 2003 receives improved GPU compatibility
That would probably be the anistropic filtering working its magic. Links default is point filtering, I've configured DDrawCompat to utilise anisotropic filtering which handles textures much better, especially angled surfaces, giving that 'sharper' look into the horizon. Glad you mentioned this. I t...

Re: Links 2003 receives improved GPU compatibility
I had some discussions with the developer. Yes the wrapper does do scaling it has a number of options for the way it is done, this is set through DisplayFilter. As you have found the wrapper can stretch output or use black bars. The consensus seems to be to set the mode in Links that has the same a...

Re: Links 2003 receives improved GPU compatibility
Some results which might be of interest: I still need multiple re-starts to get Links going with this new wrapper but it can be first time up to about 10 so better than before Links launched via MMIII.exe (on the taskbar) rather than the launcher Links MMIII set to run as administrator AND High DPI ...

Re: Links 2003 receives improved GPU compatibility
Pete posted a way to achieve fade and draw on RTS. It would be interesting to see how you are doing it so we can compare and contrast. I've just PMd Pete and his method is the same - playing a FLOP shot in click mode (in practice round), selecting a club, unchecking this shot only, changing the sta...

Re: Links 2003 and Links 2001 won't launch
The native resolution is 2560x1440. If I change it to 1920x1200 which matches the 15 I put in the registry for mode with scaling at 100% it still doesn't work. t flashes the black box and goes back to the desktop. I have the same monitor resolution but have set the in game resolution to mode 14 (19...

Re: Links 2003 receives improved GPU compatibility
Providing you can control your mouse hardware I've found settings of 800dpi and polling/report rate @125hz is the sweet spot for RTS (Elite skill level difficulty). I've noticed that resolutions higher than 1280 x 1024 makes RTS feel less intuitive, I wonder if this was the highest res the game was...
