Re: Using LIDAR DEM for Real Courses
That sounds amazing, I'd love to know how to do it. I have no experience with QGIS other than walking through the .pdf tutorial last week on green contours that you posted. As far as APCD goes, I had started working on Friar's Head a few years ago, basing large-scale elevations off of Google Earth, ...

Re: Using LIDAR DEM for Real Courses
Can I clarify: Is Linkster’s DEM method giving you precise contour lines, or is it actually adding the verts for you?
Edit: Nevermind, I read the original post and figured it out. That sounds amazing! Let me see if I can make it work.

Re: Golf+ in VR
In addition to Golf+, I've also tried Golf5, which is similar (and the names are so close I get them confused all the time). The Golf5 course library is very small (only St. Andrews, Royal Troon, Royal Liverpool, and Royal County Down, all DLC as of now) and not greatly varied (it's got Scottish, Ir...

Re: LIDAR Tutorial 1 – Creating Green Contours in QGIS
Thank you so much Linkster. There's probably like a 1% chance I ever finish anything, but maybe that gets higher if working on the elevations is easier.

Re: LIDAR Tutorial 1 – Creating Green Contours in QGIS
Came across this post in the Designers Corner way too late, and now the link to the tutorial is broken. Does anybody still have a copy of the PDF they could shoot me?
Much appreciated.

Re: Courses I'd like to see in Links 2003 Part 2
I've decided to work on Friar's Head. It was #1 on my list of courses I wanted to see earlier in this thread, so no reason not to try it myself, and I didn't see any mentions of anybody else working on it. Wish me luck.

Re: Courses I'd like to see in Links 2003 Part 2
In case you have not heard, I'll offer a word of advice before you start a new course. When you start there will be an option to select "allow NON-REGULATION fairways". DO NOT check that box. The APCD has a bug in it that will cause problems on a course that cannot be fixed. Good luck, :c...

Re: Courses I'd like to see in Links 2003 Part 2
Alright, this thread inspired me. I've never completed a course design before, but I figured I'd give it the old college try. Hopefully now at this stage in my life I have the patience for an extended project and the persistence to slog through the challenges that will come up. :fcrossed: Hopefully ...

What do people play these days?
I was a longtime lurker here after the release of Links 2003. My favorite courses were Mike Jones’ Old Burns’ Links and Bethpage Black by Dominique Bois and that big cooperative Augusta National project, and all kinds of others, like Stonebridge and Burnt Pine and Brookline and Wagga Wagga and Deser...
