From Design ReadMe

"Welcome to Desert Star Golf Course, an original design by Nate Brown. It is my second attempt at an APCD course and I think I have learned a lot. Unlike my first design I have included custom logos, hole previews, a custom flag, along with improved planting and design technique. It started as an 18-hole design but I later went back, revised some things and turned it into a simple 9-hole layout. I have also included a recorded player who can be used with moderate pins, moderate greens, breezy wind and back tees."

Desert Star is an imaginary, desert style course with lots of waste areas and changing elevations. It's a par 36 playing at just less than 3500 yards. When played in the wind it can be extremely difficult. Here is an overview of the course:

This is Nate Brown first release @ LCorner that I could find, anyway! Let me start by saying the Splash Screens where very nice done and the Panorama looked very nice as well..Custom Panorama???? First time I've seen it used in a design that I have played!

Let me start by telling the designer Nate Brown that Beta testing is crucially important to NEW designers..Most designer are very open to helping aspiring designer perfect their crafts..also I would like to give you this URL for all the great tutorial available at Links Corner.... ..... they are very helpful .while some are confusing at first..we must all crawl before we can walk then eventually Run!

Appearance

Well, now sure where to begin!....I'm going toy to explain how/what I'm looking for?????................

First impression of Hole #1 thru the eyes of a designer/players...The back Tees where Red which usually is reserved for the Ladies tee area...This can be fixed by assigning all the Tee even if they are being used..just simply click on Course Properties then Add rating/tee.etc!

Second thing, I noticed was very bad elevation which caused several black spots and a lot of Sharp edges throughout the Course

3rd thing is Planting which was very sparse and was very redundant ...Nate used same rocks, grasses. Etc.throughout the whole Course!

Playability
I only played one Round @ Desert Star with 3 other Computer players and we all shot -4 with playing conditions of breezy/firm/fast/moderate pins...I found the fairway to be very slender in the landing areas', while the elevation was terrible throughout the courses....the greens where very fair, some where even very flat in spots..I consider myself an advanced player and I had trouble hitting theses slender fairway...because of the poor elevation u may find some very awkward lie throughout the Course as I found during my round!

APCD
While, I don't consider myself as an expert user of APCD, I do have some knowledge of APCD!

While, I can't think of any shapes that where shaped nicely done or any elevation that looked realistic...I would like to take a paragraph and tell the designer not to get discouraged and quit trying to learn more and more about APCD..It's a programs that takes many, many months , to perfect all the many techniques that are a huge part of APCD..I personal have been using APCD nearly a year and I would consider myself @ 70% of total APCD knowledge.so please take the time to look over the many great tutorials and keep trying to design that perfect course.it's out there!!!!

Extras'
Included: Cameo, Splash Screens, Hole Previews

Not included: Recorded Round, Custom Tees, Ball washer, Cart paths, Custom Flags, Hole Signs, No Crowds or Tournament Objects

Overall Rating
Nate Brown first design is a typically first design released by someone that doesn't frequently visit our truly great Forum provided to us by LinksCorner...... I cant' recommend this Course for download but I do hope that Nate continues to improve his APCD skills and releases another in the near future!
