LINKS CORNER REVIEW

I'll try to keep this short. The tee boxes, which were three in, number contained only one set of tee markers. The tee boxes were a dark brown called 'dead tee' (appropriate), the fairway also dark brown without a fringe, 'dead fairway'. The rough was called deep grass and was brownish green and finally the green was called 'dirt green' and was light brown with a lime green fringe. The browns are the coloring of old jute carpet padding, burlap. The pano was a tree line and the course had a few short, scrawny trees, very few and a building that followed me from green to green. The fairways were difficult to find and I had to continually 'spot' the flag to find which of a myriad of greens that were lined up was mine. They were narrow and most had two bunkers at the tee of landing area. The greens that were quite flat had the obligatory three bunkers that seem to be on courses such as this. The greens had some odd edging, sharp, and the bunkers were mostly flat. If you're looking for long putts, birdies and eagles look no further, here they are. The caddie and the minor elevation changes seemed to be more that acceptable. The hole shapes were without imagination and challenge. Too see what the course looks like all you have to do is look at the screen shots.

All he showed with this course is his knowledge of the APCD but not the know-how to build an interesting game. He is building other courses and I sincerely hope that he look at the better courses to see how they play and how they are built. At the moment it seems that all he looked at were courses that I've seen too many times, amateur playing with fantastic tools. The design corner and the beta testing corner are there to help aspiring new designers but too many do not take advantage of these valuable resources that are available to them. Yes the course is playable, yes you can hit the various fairways and sink the putts but you do not want to download this course unless you want to see how not to build one.

Reviewer Note:
I am a player not a designer and therefore rate a course as a player for other players.
