LINKS CORNER REVIEW |
Reviewed by Joe Turner `Loner' April 2002
Yes not quite 1/3 of a mb. download. This course is just a basic, basic 3 par that you would use to practice your irons on. It ranges from 99y to 245y (the only wood hole). You can practice with wind for a bit of an education but don't expect too much from the greens, they are perfectly flat. The only practice you can get here is distance with different surface conditions. Every hole has 3 bunkers placed the same with the exception of #14 it has 2 bunkers, he either temporarily ran out or tried to create an imaginative hole. There are varying elevation changes so you can try out your trajectory settings. You have to birdie each hole and a hole in 1 is almost mandatory, I had an honest one, no mulligans, on #15.
When I say basic, basic I mean it and so did he. There wasn't one object on the course, not even the usually rows of duplicate trees we are so used to seeing on courses such as this. Not one tree, building, pond not even Whistlers Mountain, I would have liked to see one spectator on the #18 tee for a big finish. The colors for the tee boxes rough and greens were very good. Even a person untrained in the APCD could see sharp edges on the greens and the bunkers weren't of the highest quality but for the rest of the course they seem to fit in. On tee #6 you are standing so close to another green you are behind its bunker.
This is the course of an amateur very unskilled in the use of the APCD but its someone that tried to do his best or did he do it just for 'kicks'. I imagine we will find out if he ever builds another course. It's not the type or quality that I would ever recommend that you download but I have seen readmes that are larger. If you want to see if you can get that elusive ace or just practice without any hazards to speak of try it. Don't expect more than you see in the screen shots provided because you wont get it.
Reviewer Note
I am a player not a designer and therefore rate a course as a player for other players.
