LINKS CORNER REVIEW |

Readme explanation of 'real' course:
This course is a compilation of two local 9 hole courses. The front 9 is the Crooked Creek course where I have worked as an assistant greenskeeper for the last 4 years. The back 9 is a course called Fox Hollow, located about 4 miles from my house. So I do know both courses pretty well.
The front 9 (Crooked Creek) has no bunkers at all, but a sidehill lie is almost a certainty anywhere on the course. The back 9 (Fox Hollow) does have a few bunkers, but only a few.
The colors that he used for the tee areas, fairways, rough and greens were a nice blend. The decoration around the water hazards on the front nine consisted mainly of heavy grass planting and on the back nine it was mostly decorated with rocks and smaller plantings. Both were attractive as were the fountains in some of them. The use of trees on this course although nice in selection were few and a little sketchy in places along the fairways. The pano was a nice low one that gave you more of a large course felling. The creek that ran through the course came into play just a few times. His elevations and undulations on the fairways made for interesting play because of club changes by the player. As he said the bunkers were few and most times non-existent which led to easy safe play, basically hit and putt golf. The greens were fairly easy and though at times tiered and undulated presented no unusual difficulty.
# 2 hole, par 5, 551y, with absolutely no bunkers at all this long narrow fairway played longer than usual because of a creek cutting across at a point that forced the use of a 3w. This only gave me a tee shot of 259y and left an unreachable 287y. After another 3w of 256y I had a lw of 35y, which gave me a better lie on this tiered green that would have played harder with a pw.
# 3 hole, par 3, 205y, the only reason for mentioning this hole is because my fifth hole in one just occurred.
# 16 hole, par 4, 419y with a 21ft drop, another hole with a water hazard dividing the fairway, this time it was a large pond with an attractive fountain. My 3w was 262y because of the drop and 158y left to the pin. The guide indicated that I was standing above the ball so I switched from the 7 iron the caddie gave me to an 8 iron and it was a perfect choice, a birdie hole if my putting holds up.
Does putting two 'real' nine hole courses together make one 'real' eighteen-hole course, that's a very good question. Treating the course as real I have to say it was not a challenging course in the least but it was done very well and since he has a good grasp of the APCD I would like to see him design a course of his own. This was a very playable course to say it wasn't would be telling you not to try it. I believe it would play very well with more harsh conditions and with the small size of the download I would recommend it.
