LINKS CORNER REVIEW

Reviewed by Joe Turner (loner)

This course is a visual treat. The blend of green used for the tee boxes, fairways (mow lines) roughs and greens are excellent, along with the beautiful planting at each tee box. His selection and heavy planting of a variety of trees all trimmed with mulch as the undergrowth, in addition to the beautiful rock trim around the water hazards sets off a spacious pano which is perfect from the tees and spectacular from the greens.

Truly a magnificent looking course.

All of his holes have severe elevation changes; fortunately both his caddie and elevation readings are perfect. If they weren't the course would be unplayable.

As for the putting I would say it was definitely very easy.

7th hole, par 4, 407y, my drive from the tee was 392y with a 27y drop. If you keep the ball to the left you can easily avoid the large bunker on the right. My ball landed 314y downrange, which left me with 91y to the green with a 17.5 rise. Clearly a sw was the order of the day, so with a slight adjustment in trajectory I had my birdie putt.

10th hole, par 4, 384y, I had a meter reading of 373y with a 35.4ft drop. My initial drive was 292y with a 88y, 14.9' drop to the flag, and the two bunkers guarding the green shouldn't be a problem. A full lw looks like the perfect club, but this green is slightly elevated and it forced me to make a change in trajectory to be in birdie range.

12th hole, par 4, 403y, another drop hole. This one had a 56ft drop. He used a novel approach by planting a few (6 showing in the top view) trees at your landing point in the fairway. With the substantial drop, my tee shot was 309y. Keeping the ball to the left side of the fairway was the appropriate move. This left me with a 94y shot to the green, a slight adjustment in trajectory to your sw and you're home free.

I found this course to be very beautiful but very boring. The fairways are normal size and you really can't miss them... if you didn't it wouldn't be a great loss. This huge download of over 58mb and the trees never come into play. they don't line the fairways. The hazards, bunkers, water, or trees never seem to be a factor in the game.

The only interesting part of this course were the elevation changes and the club choices. nothing exceptional, nothing challenging.

There were some environmental sounds but not enough to warrant the size of this course. It was all in the heavy use of trees and decorative planting. certainly not in any custom objects, cameos, splashes, or hole previews.

It's a shame that a course as grand as this wasn't a little more interesting to play.

Cool air-plane on 18 at about 11:00 o'clock, and, by the way, a 7 iron was perfect.

Would I recommend this course to a dialup? No, the only reason to download this course is for the beauty of it.
