LINKS CORNER REVIEW |
Reviewed by Joe Turner `Loner'
July 2001
1st, 2nd, holes; there aren't any bunkers to speak of. On the second hole you may cut across for an easy second shot.
7th, par 4, no, I don't know what that object is 180y from tee.
9th, par 5, water at last, we will survive ( the desert but not this course). Here we find buildings and palm trees.
12th, par 4, we have a little target golf here and have to switch to a 3 wood off of tee.
14th, par 3, 6 iron one click up in trajectory (setup) and you should have a perfect shot.
15th, par 5, 658y, at your first shot off the tee finally there is a bunker. Not possible in two but a definite possibility of a birdie here.
16th, par 3, 2 iron one click up in trajectory and it's on target.
18th, par 5, 529y, a shorter mirror image of the 9th. Being shorter makes it possible in two. My second shot was a 3 iron flop to the green. You have a good chance for an eagle here and a birdie is a given.
An attractive finishing hole is a good touch for any course.
Elevations are very good and the driving is relatively long because of the lack of imagination on this course. Putting is very easy and the caddie is excellent.
The screen shot is off the 8th tee which is a good representation of many of the holes on this course.
If the course looked like the splash this would be a magnificent course, but you're going to have to satisfy yourself with the splash.
He switches from saguaro cactus to palms, but most of the holes are cactus . There are too many cacti on each hole to be realistic and none show in top view. The colors of the greens, tees, fairways and rough, blend well.
Bunkers are virtually non-existent except for a gully of rock that runs through most of the course. Fortunately, problems with this hazard should not occur..
A designer will see many flaws in this course. Even though I'm not an designer I can see them.
If more thought and imagination went into each hole, and some strategically placed bunkers were in place, it would have made this a better course.
If you are looking for an easy playing, somewhat unattractive course that will lower your putting average, this is for you. If you want a challenge go elsewhere.
