COURSE NOTES |
Westward Ho! (as it's commonly known - in reality Royal North Devon Golf Club) is the oldest Links Course in England (1864) and was originally designed by Old Tom Morris.
There are blind drives, horrendous and deep pot bunkers, boarded bunkers, and the wind usually blows. There are no trees but plenty of whins (a combination of grass, gorse and other shrubbery)and streams.
No Opens have been held here (surprisingly), but the Course has hosted many other famous championships. Holes 1-2 and 17-18 effectively run from the Clubhouse down towards the sea, whilst the other holes make up a real test of links golf. |
