COURSE NOTES |
here is the results after re scaling some of the bushes in question, also changed the name a little to EsraStar Golf Club.
Thank you
Dace Fair
Hello golfers and friends, this my first attempt at a coastal (seaside) course. I have chosen the name after a good friend and links golfer that I play with on Gameranger. If you spell it backwards you will get a laugh.
Enjoy it and play well.
Special thanks to Daniel Watson for the panorama work.

Description Fictional, ocean course |
Location I may be dead wrong, but I fancy there\'s something of the Caribbean about this. |
Conditions It plays pretty well on M*/M*. Try turning the wind off completely. |
Concept 6/10 Ocean-side courses have always tickled my fancy, and Dace has provided a pretty good example here. A little oasis of flatland and creeks at the foot of cliffs and mountains, it holds together an interesting range of holes, although the designer\'s predilection for the over-elaborate is more frustrating than fancy-free as you get deeper into the course. |
Appearance 6/10 The usual excellent panorama work from Daniel provides a dramatic backdrop, and there is some good planting on the plot to complement it. The main grass textures are relatively featureless but overall not a bad choice; however, some of the peripheral textures are mismatched, poorly-coloured or stretched and tiled. The bunker extrusions aren\'t really a pretty sight, but there are some good rockworks to compensate. Overall, not a bad effort at all. |
Playability 5/10 EsraStar is a long course, where there was no real demand for a long course, and a repeated frustration from the designer is the lack of visibility. The number of blind shots runs comfortably into double figures come the back nine, and the whole thing becomes a little wearing. Perhaps playing the first half twice is the right way to go... |
Challenge 4/10 Some very small greens and landing areas don\'t really help, and if you press your luck with the conditions, you\'ll likely be in for a nasty ride. The best that can be said about the course is that there are few unplayable lies, but there are certainly a lot that you wouldn\'t expect - or want - to find yourself playing from. In no little part is this down to weaknesses in the hole design. |
Technical 5/10 Although Dace has succumbed to some of the same old trappings, it has to be said that there is a reasonably fresh and playable course beneath it all, and some of the visual aspects have been well chosen. Certainly compared to some of the rough and ready courses that were being churned out earlier in his career, this is looking like a definite step in the right direction. |
Overall |
A nice locale and a sprinkling of good holes. But it\'s a leisure course rather than anything to get serious about |
