LINKS CORNER REVIEW |
Reviewed by Simon Kent
Designer: This is Allan Stafford's first attempt at designing a course.
Playability: This course certainly wasn't designed specifically to play a round on, and should mainly be used for practice purposes, like testing out your driving distances, and fine tuning the accuracy of your chipping and putting.
The Course: Practice Ground has a good variety in distances, due to having 5 sets of tees, but for putting purposes the greens were generally quite flat and easy to read and the only real challenge in the course was chipping from the different surfaces found around some of the greens at the back of the course.
Technically: The designer used 3D Objects well in this course (Screenshot 2 and 3- signs, fences, golf carts etc), and used appropriate textures to allow players to chip from different surfaces (Screenshot 2).
Other: The Read-Me File provides sufficient instructions to use the Practice Ground to its full potential, and the only thing the course is missing is simple 'cosmetic' features like the Splash Screen, Hole Previews, Handicaps and a Cameo.
Download Value: If you are a player that likes to refine their game every now and again, this could be a good choice for a practice facility, especially if you were sick and tired of the driving range included in the game, and as it is a small file, people with any speed of internet are able to download and use it as a test course to practice their game whenever they need to.
Difficulty: Easy
