Carver Links: This is the final version.
This is our sixth course which has been turned in to Links Corner.
We redid the greens, Corrected some seam-blending, and spent alot of time on planting. An leveled the water. While finalizing the course we did not change any of the original course layout.
The name was from a suggestion from the Links tour forum to honor the late Bruce Carver. He and his brother were the founders of this great game.
Prior to Links, they had created Leaderboard Golf.

LINKS CORNER REVIEW |
Designer: This is Douglas and Karen Montgomery's sixth design, having previously released two 2001 and three 2003 courses in the styles of Mountain, Parkland, Tropical and Woodland.
Course: Right off the first tee, it's obvious that the course is laid out quite well, with the aesthetics and design matching appropriately. Each of the hole designs differ very nicely, especially the Par 4's, while the variety in the length of the holes is something always appreciated by player's. The bunkers have a great depth to them, and are positioned well, with the Par 3's using them exceptionally well. Finally, the Par 4 on Hole 18 is certainly a great climax, but it's also something that is perhaps a bit too imaginary in its design, with the rest of the course being quite realistic, so even though it's a great hole to play, it certainly was different in style to that of the rest of the course.
Favourite Hole: The Par 4 on Hole 6 was my favourite hole on the course, as it combined some nice visuals off the tee with a well laid out hole design.
Playability: With generally wide fairways and approachable greens, regulation percentages should be high for those who are usually quite accurate, but it's important to not become complacent, as the bunkers in addition to the subtle elevation changes will crop up out of nowhere for those who aren't careful. The greens are very simplistic in their design, which means regardless of the distance you are from the hole, you'll generally have a straight putt, which for player's is great, but from a design standpoint, isn't something that should necessarily be that way. The Par 3's are excellent in regard to testing out the skill levels of all player's due to their length, while for those after eagles, all of the Par 5's are reachable in two shots, except the fifth. With some testing holes like the uphill Par 4 on Hole 14, Carver Links is realistic in design, but still quite challenging, while for those who are eager for birdie opportunities, there are certainly many of them around the layout to stumble upon.
Technically: The course is certainly tidy throughout, with the textures being clean in their look, but seam blending was not effectively applied around the whole layout, so the visuals up close are not always constant. The bunkers are certainly nice, but weren't constructed the same throughout the design, especially in regard to the lips, which resulted in some bunkers looking much better than others. The tee areas needed to be larger than they were, with many of the tees being outside of their specific areas, but with a nice panorama and some great planting, the technical application problems certainly didn't overshadow the course itself.
Other: The course comes with all the usual extras one would come to expect, including a cameo, custom flag, handicaps, hole previews and a splash screen.
Download Value: Right on 49mb, Carver Links is a moderate sized download for most users, but even then, you'll only be getting the course and a read-me within the zip file. If you enjoyed any of the previous releases from these two designers, then be sure to check out their latest, as it certainly is their best work to date, while even though I won't be keeping it on my hard drive, I will be burning it to CD.
