A portion of his read-me:

Flint Gardens is a fictional course located in East Texas.
It's a wooded area, with lots of water and abundant azaleas and dogwoods to add some spring color to the layout. As is common in East Texas, the terrain is fairly flat with some rolling hills to add a bit of elevation and difficulty to otherwise basic golf shots. One of the first things you may notice is the color of the water, it's a dark chocolate brown, stained by the spring pollen of the pine trees and the tannic acids of the soils in this area. Dogwoods bloom in early spring usually around Easter, so I suppose this is a spring setting. A few of the larger oaks appear brown as if in the fall, but that's actually the 'tassle' blooms associated with early spring. (That's my story and I'm sticking to it)

The hole layouts are not all that difficult, but there are several shots (especially off the tees) that will make you think about your club selection. A few of the holes over the large ponds tend to be a bit on the 'target golf' side of the scale, as you'll have to hit some islands or a couple of small areas of fairway

I also have reviewed his Links at Parrot Landing and Possum Park Short Course both which scored well. The course starts off with a tee box that has 'links type' grass, the fairway (minus a first cut) has a 'nice' texture, as does the deep grass. The greens are have a slight mowed pattern and are rough in texture with a generous first cut made for chipping. The trees look lush and are nicely assorted; yes there are some repetitive parts but only if you look hard. The undergrowth looks full with the planting of brush, tall grass and many many flowered sections that do not overcome the course, they add to the attractiveness of his creation. Beautifully made bunkers dot the fairways but do not pose too much of a hazard there but do a good job of guarding the greens. The primary guardian of the fairways are the multiple water hazards that he has created for this course and I must say that they look outstanding with their sand-rock walls and the flowers-tall grass rims. I also must complement him on his use of 'objects' for the course, buildings, gravel paths, the fence work, benches, large rocks and more. Yes this course gets high marks for 'eye candy'.

The fairways are fairly narrow and could have been a little larger with a slight slope added for difficulty. The greens were medium sized and were full of slight slopes and swirls that made for extremely interesting putting. I would call the putting here medium in difficulty, but pleasurable. a nice challenge. You find as I did that some of the greens are raised and some are lowered, just enough to give some approach shot problems, fun type problems, an example would be holes #11 and #12. A number of the five pars are typical target holes, notably #7, and #9, not fun holes. a bit too contrived for me. Whereas hole #5 was a joy to play.frustrating to only find one.
The water hazards here are too well placed, by that I mean that they do make play a little more difficult than a normal course should be with fairways of this size.

The course with it's very pleasant bird sounds would have been much more enjoyable without the many target golf holes. A few of those holes can be enjoyable, a challenge, but too many become a tiresome chore. Unfortunately by the time I arrived at hole #18 I was relieved that this very beautiful game was over. The front nine was pleasurable but being hammed by the narrow landing and the constant target shots made this golfer weary. This is a very beautiful course and it can be a pleasure to play if you enjoy this type of golf. Can you enjoy this course even though you feel about 'targeting' the way I do, probably, he did his usual fine job of designing the 'other' holes. Do I recommend this course. only if you have a broadband and are looking for a semi enjoyable time, no it's not a keeper in my book.

I am a player not a designer and therefore rate a course as a player for other players.
