Background: This is the second course released to Links Corner by Mr. Tancrell. The other one was called Raceway Golf Club; it was not highly rated. The read-me for this course has no other information other than the designers name and the course type: Imaginary. So with nothing else to go on.off we go to the course!
Overall Impression: Wow, bizarre is the only word I can use to describe this course! And actually, I don't think that 'bizarre' really does it justice! Freakishly weird may be better; but that's two words! I really don't think my words can fully describe this course; so I have included a bunch of screen shots. You have to see this course to believe it! It is most assuredly a fantasy course! Every hole has some kind of strange theme to it; but unfortunately this course is very poorly constructed. As an aficionado of imaginary courses I kind of still enjoyed my tour here; but it is not for the faint of heart (see picture of giant squirrel)!
Playability/Shot Values: This is probably the most un playable golf course for Links that I have ever seen! There are holes with 20-foot diameter greens (2nd), there are holes with 20-foot wide fairways (18th) and there are holes with nothing but tiny little islands for fairways (11th). In addition to all of that each hole is surrounded by deep grass. This may finally be the one course that you better pro clickers find too hard even for your games!
Visuals: Man, I don't quite know what to say here. Just look at the screen shots and you'll know what I mean!
Technique: Very poor apcd technique was used throughout. There is poor or non existent planting; there are bad texture transitions and sharp edges; there are ugly textures; and there is no seam blending or anything else that would make you think you are actually playing golf instead of some sort of strange video game.
Favorite Hole: Man, this is a tough one. I guess I'll have to pick the 11th hole. This is a par 5; and as mentioned above there are tiny islets instead of a fairway. Check out the screen shot below. Let me save you a few lost golf balls and give you some advice. Play the hole by aiming at the middle island about 210 yards away. If the wind is in your face then hit a 5-wood. From there use a 9-iron to jump to the next little islet. You can then go for the green with something like a 3-iron! Good luck holding the green though! If you can par or birdie this hole the first time around; you are a better man than me! I guess you could get there in two by aiming for one of the smaller islands off the tee; but trying to land and hold one of those islets with a driver would be close to impossible.
Summary: Just amazingly weird and bizarre. Have I said that enough yet? Please check out the screen shots below. They are highly entertaining to say the least! I can't recommend downloading this course; unless you really like imaginary courses that are a bit wacky! You gotta give the designer some credit though for a sense of humor! He definitely has got that going for him!
